For over a century Bethany has served the local Japanese community. They are now a multicultural and multigenerational fellowship with services in both English and Japanese.

Bethany Congregational Church exists to bring people to Jesus Christ and fellowship in His family, develop them to Christ-like maturity and equip them for their ministry in the church, the community, and the world - all for the glory of God.

They believe their mission is eternal and universal because it comes from our Lord Jesus. This is part of the unity of the church, but Bethany believes that God, in His infinite wisdom, has given each church a unique vision on how to carry out His mission.

While Bethany's mission is eternal and unchanging, their vision can and should change. It is living, growing and changing as the Holy Spirit brings new insights, talents and revelations to His people here at Bethany.

This doesn't mean Bethany's vision is ever changing on the whims of the culture, but it is rooted in what has come before and is growing into the future, as led by God, to glorify Him.

Bethany's vision is to be a culturally relevant, Biblically solid and vibrant group of worshippers that reaches out to the greater Santa Barbara and Japanese speaking communities and helps to send, support and pray for missionaries going out to the ends of the earth.
