Located in the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara, Brass Bear Brewing was founded by a husband and wife team who started brewing in 2009 and opened their brewpub in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone in 2016, just a block from the beach. The brewery serves high quality craft beer and rotating guest taps, wine, sparkling and cider.
Their food consists of charcuterie boards, skewers of tritip, chicken, shrimp, occasionally shark, burgers and hot toasted sandwiches sourced from Santa Barbara and surrounding counties. The restaurant is a little squished inside, but it also lends itself to a more intimate setting. Brass Bear Brewing is considered by many the best hidden gem in Santa Barbara.
Brass Bear started as a home-brewing operation which soon moved to Pure Order Brewery, where they're sharing space to produce their Cave Age Lager and Hopping Grizzly Double IPA. The Brass Bear name was born during the founders' trip to Glacier National Park when they encountered a family of Black Bears, with fur glowing a beatiful brass color in the late afternoon sun. They realized this would be the perfect name for a business one day.
The interior design at Brass Bear reflects the hippness of the funk zone and surrounding area while also paying attention to Santa Barbara's laid back life style. Come in for a cold beer and hot food on the deck or take it to go to one of the many tasting rooms in the area.
