The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club has a beautiful facility in nearby Carpinteria. If you like horses, sports, hockey, basketball or soccer, you stand a good chance of loving Polo. Each Friday and Sunday afternoon (except for winter) you can attend a game even if you are not a member of the club. The fans even get involved at half time by going onto the field and stomping divots.
Established in 1911, the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club is the third oldest polo facility in the United States and is world renowned for its three lush polo fields and international outdoor competition. Players and patrons from all across the globe call Santa Barbara their home for the summer, bringing world class polo to the Southern California coast. Spectators gather for matches on Friday and Sunday afternoons from mid-April to October. Polo matches are open to the public with a wide range of hospitality and guest seating. All are welcome to join for an exciting afternoon of polo action.
The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club hosts many big tournaments which bring in celebrity spectators from all around the world. In 2011 Prince William played in the Foundation Polo challenge.
In addition to the playing fields and historic Polo Clubhouse, the Club also offers Stabling, Stick & Ball, Polo School, as well as a tennis clubhouse and facility including eight championship hard court tennis courts, swimming and fitness centers.
