This is a lovely park for an early morning walk. If there's some ground fog and the sunlight is peaking through the tall redwood trees just right it's almost magical. There's a feeling of awe as you look up at the trees silhouetted against the sky in a circle around you. Stow Grove currently has about 300 Coast Redwood trees, some standing as tall as 130 feet. A visit to Stow Grove can make it feel like you are in Northern California.

  • Dog Policy: Dogs Allowed On Leash

For the most part, this park is very, very shady from its many redwoods, sycamores, oaks and eucalyptus. There are two open fields, however, so sun-lovers can have their niche, too. Some of the picnic areas can seat 200 hundred and the ball fields and playground make it a natural for large family-style gatherings.

Park amenities include a softball field, two volleyball courts, horseshoes, open lawn, playground, restrooms, barbecue grills, benches, and picnic tables. The sports field, volleyball courts, and horseshoes are on the north/mountain side of Stow Grove, out of sight of the rest of the park, so they can be easy to miss. Stow Grove Park is the only Goleta City park that takes reservations.
