La Mesa Park is a family friendly gathering place that is popular for weddings, picnics, birthday parties, and romantic strolls. There is an abundance of shade, a huge lawn, and the breeze off the ocean that stays cool on days when Santa Barbara is hot. The playground has slides, musical chimes, a hanging sliding bar, baby and regular swings, and springy bouncers for young children. There's a great pedestrian bridge that leads over to a Mesa neighborhood and the Edgewater Way Walk. Walk across the bridge four blocks to the Mesa Lane Steps, a steep path that lead down to a narrow beach.
