Girsh Park is a critically important aspect of life in Goleta. Even when sports leagues are not using the facility Girsh Park still hums with activity, whether it is a pick-up basketball game in progress, kids practicing soccer, children swarming the playground and bouncies, people celebrating events at the picnic tables, and more.

Facilities

Girsh-Hochman Field is a full sized international size soccer field equipped with state of the art Field Turf. The field is lined both as a full sized soccer field, as well as two 10 and under sized soccer fields running width wise along the main field.

Elings Fields is a multi-use facility used by Dos Pueblos Little League, AYSO, the GoodLand Baseball Tournaments and many other user groups. There are four baseball fields including one full sized, and three small or youth sized fields. Each field can be rented for games, practices, parties, picnics, and special events.

Linehan Family Courts are the best outdoor basketball courts in Goleta. The two courts are complete with glass backboards, a high quality multi-sport surface, and break away rims. On almost any day of the week you can find a pick up game to join.

The Girsh Park Multi-Sports Field is set up for youth baseball, adult softball, soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, dog events, and rugby. It is also used for summer camp, the 4th of July Firework Festival, The Lemon Festival, the Goleta Rotary's Easter Egg Hunt, and more. The Multi-Sport Field is used for softball practice, corporate events, and baseball practice. Located on the east side of the infield is a batting cage.

There are seven family picnic areas that are available to rent for party and picnic needs. Each area has 1-2 picnic tables, a barbecue, and plenty of open space. Each Family Picnic Area holds a maximum of 25 people. If your group is larger than 25 people, then you can rent multiple picnic areas to accommodate more people. These picnic areas are located around a meadow with easy access to the playground, piñata stand and restrooms.

History

Girsh Park has served the community’s active recreational needs since 1999. The park was built by Wynmark Company in conjunction with neighboring Camino Real Marketplace construction. In 2005, the Foundation for Girsh Park purchased the 13-acre parcel to the west of the original park, now called Elings Fields, to create a permanent home for two of Goleta’s most popular youth sports programs, Dos Pueblos Little League and AYSO. In 2009, the Foundation opened the synthetic turf Girsh-Hochman Soccer Field which is equipped with FieldTurf, the best synthetic turf on the market.

Directions

To get to Girsh Park, take the 101 freeway to the Glen Annie/Storke Road exit in Goleta and turn south towards the ocean. Follow Storke Road past Hollister Avenue, past Home Depot and Camino Real Marketplace, and then turn right on Phelps Road. Three Girsh Park parking lots will be on the right, after you pass the Courtyard by Marriott. If the parking lots are full continue to Pacific Oaks Road and look for street parking there or in surrounding neighborhoods.
