Come out and have a picnic at Calle Barquero Open Space and bring the kids to play on two age-differentiated playground structures. The 5.3 acre field is a nice place to play ball or toss a Frisbee. There is no shade at the playground so mornings or late afternoons are the best time to visit if you want to avoid the heat. There is shade at the picnic tables and it is next to a wooded area and stream (dry most of the year). There is no bathroom which is typical of a neighborhood park but there is a drinking fountain.
