This 40 acre campground is nestled in pristine wilderness between the San Raphael and Santa Ynez Mountains. It's closest neighbor is the San Marcos Golf Course, over whose greens you will drive on the way to the campground.

Originally a campsite for cowboys, Live Oak is the county's large group facility. It is strategically situated 15 miles northeast of Santa Barbara and 15 miles southwest of Solvang approximately five miles from Cachuma Lake Recreation Area.  Many events are held here throughout the summer.

Amenities include:

  • Minimal sanitary facilities: Porta-Pottie outhouses. The "showers" are faucets that have quick bursts of very hot or very cold water. Not very user friendly sanitary facilities.
  • Accommodates up to 1,500 campers in "open" site fashion, and an additional 2,000 non-camping patrons on a daily basis,
  • Roofed kitchen and eating area that seats 250 guests,
  • BBQ Grills & Group Picnic Areas,
  • Bird Watching
  • Equestrian & Hiking Trails
  • Tent or RV Camping.

From the 101 take the 154 towards the mountains.  Follow it over the hill and back down into the valley.  You will be almost to the bottom of the grade when you will turn right.  It is easy to miss the entrance and have to circle around. As soon as you see the greens for Rancho San Marcos Golf Course to your right, slow down. The camp shares its entrance off Highway 154 with Rancho San Marcos Golf Course. Take a left once you've passed through that entryway.
