If you're interested in trying a spectrum of wines from the county but don't want to travel to do it, then there are some excellent retail establishments that offer a choice of tastings for a small fee.  Also, many wineries are too small or specialized to have their own tasting rooms.   You can only find these wines in tasting rooms.

This charming store has a wide selection of wines, a restaurant and a relaxing atmosphere.  They have a broad choice of local wines.  They're slightly different from other tasting rooms in they have a bar where you can purchase wine by the glass or half glass.  Prices will therefore vary.

Special event: Wine Futures - Saturday, April 28th.  Local vintners bring barrels of just released wines for sample. From Noon to 3 p.m.

Known as "The Emporium" this wonderful shop is something of a local landmark and carries a broad selection of wines, many of which are difficult to find anywhere else.  The staff prides themselves on being well-informed, so make a point of dropping by to test them out.  The owner Bob Senn writes for local newspapers and websites, making him well known throughout the area.  The Emporium is tucked a bit out of the way and isn't on the 'main drag' in Los Olivos, so it's easy to miss.  However, their broad selection of wines makes them worth the jaunt.

This wine shop and tasting room boasts it's the "finest wine shop with exclusives on some of the best wines in the world."  The current owner purchased the shop from his father, who was himself a vintner so there is a great deal of real experience. They have the ability to cherry-pick some of the best wineries out of the area and is committed to providing the most consumer friendly wine club in the valley.

Wine Country is a tasting room and wine shop, specializing in Central Coast wines. At any given time they have in stock over sixty-five Central Coast wineries, and attempt to promote the smaller, more "boutique" ones. Wine Country carries a full array of wine related gifts and gadgets.  The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
