This is an extremely new vineyard to our area but promises to be something quite wonderful when they are complete.

The owners recently sold their northern vineyards, but continue to produce under the Plan Vineyards label in Napa Valley.  They moved their base of operations to Solvang to open Mission Meadow.  Currently, their tasting room is a wonderful storefront in the heart of Solvang.

However, they are beginning planting their new vineyard in an empty field near the Alisal River Golf Course.  Ken & Shirley Plam can often be found here and (unless they're too busy with the tasting) are happy to share the plans and designs for their winery.  We can't wait to see it when it's finished!

As far as the tasting goes, I enjoyed five out of the five tasted - not always an easy thing to say.  Their Merlot really shined, however, and that's no surprise.  Plam is rated by Wine Enthusiast as one of the top 20 premier producers of Merlot.

Take the 101N to Buellton. Take Hwy 246 exit and head East five miles to Solvang. Turn Right (South) on First Street and Right (West) on Copenhagen.
