The vineyard itself was founded in 1978, and became Foley Estates Winery in 1997.  This was one of the first wineries we visited as we were writing this web site and it remains one of the most memorable. 

It has all of the right pieces - helpful, well informed staff, excellent wines, a gorgeous view, enormous barrels and a mid-winery location.  There's no wonder that it's a very popular stop for picnics for those on the Santa Ynez Trail.

Directions: 
Take the 101 North past Santa Barbara. When you reach Buellton, go RIGHT/EAST on Highway 246. Drive through the main section of Solvang.
Take a LEFT onto Alamo Pintado Road at the edge of town. Follow this road until you see the sign for the winery a few miles up the road. It will be on your LEFT.
