This wonderful boutique winery features Rhône-style wines.  Since they produce only 5,000 cases each year, production is limited, with a focus on small lots of Syrah and Viognier. 

They are a sister winery to Firestone but their production is much smaller and more specialized.  They have an excellent (and well deserved) reputation for their Syrah.

When we visited their winery, we were struck by how well-informed their staff was and the attention they paid to each guest.  The picnic facilities are lovely and offer abundant shade for those hot summer afternoons the Santa Ynez Valley is famous for.

Directions:
From Highway 101 (both northbound and southbound), take the Zaca Station Road/Highway 154 exit located seven miles north of Buellton.  Head east at the stop sign. The road dips and curves southward. Take an immediate left onto Zaca Station Road and continue for 2.5 miles: Curtis Winery is located on your left, 1/4 mile past Firestone Vineyard.
