Elsie's Tavern writes: Elsie's has been voted the #1 neighborhood bar in Santa Barbara for 5 years in a row in the Santa Barbara Independent's annual "Best Of" poll. It's somewhat more like a pub than a classic American bar. Funky, almost nondescript-there is no sign outside-you pass through a pseudo-living room to enter the large cement-floored bar area. The clientele is about half regulars, but the snobbery factor is nil. Great music, fun company in comfy surroundings, and enough fine spirits to either take the edge off or get the party started.
Friday there is a DJ. Saturday usually has a DJ and sometimes a band. Wednesday night is "liberally drinking" night where locals gather in the den to have political discussions. The second & last Tuesday of the month is open mike night. We have added to our menu a full line of organic/ fair trade espresso and french press coffee and teas we serve from 12:00-8:00pm M-F. We are also still ages 21 and up during the coffee service. We have free wireless internet service.
