Day & Boutique Spas
in Santa Barbara
-
Amara Spa
by the Sea located in the beachy town of Summerland, Amara is a
delightful day spa in a cute cottage-style house. I love the private
patio available to clients as well as the French doors in the
treatment room. The microcurrent facial can treat fine lines and bring
vibrancy to the skin.
-
Avia Spa - Offering spa and salon services and located
downtown. The
spa menu offers Eastern and Western massage and facial treatments. I
indulged in the hot stone & chocolate scrub massage washed away with a
warm, rainwater, 7-head shower.
Float Spa
- Le Reve - If you love lavender as much as I do,
you’ll want to visit Le Reve (The Dream) for an aromatherapy massage
or body wrap. Conveniently located downtown, this spa only uses
Jurlique products, which have plant-based and herbal ingredients such
as lavender.

Medical Spas
Medical spas offer
medical treatments such as Botox, Restylane, acupuncture, laser hair
removal, chemical peels and other procedures that require a nurse
and/or licensed acupuncturist and doctor on staff. While the
treatments are relaxing for the most part, the goal of each treatment
is more clinical addressing such concerns as sunspots, permanent hair
removal, wrinkles and scars. Many medical spas offer a combination of
the medical and relaxation treatments such as massage. Plastic Surgery
and Dermatology clinics are also offering these types of treatments.

Tips For Your Spa Visit
-
Drink a lot of water
before and after your treatment.
-
Tip 15-20%
-
Go early to enjoy the
waiting/relaxation room: if available, use sauna or just sit and sip
some tea for a few moments before your treatment.
-
Try something new –
instead of a massage, opt for a body wrap or something else you
haven’t tried on the spa menu!
