Dry and Not Homemade Tasting Baked Goods, 4/7/2009
Reviewer: Santa Barbara Dianne from Santa Barbara, CA
I have been to this bakery a couple of times and gave up the hope of getting a memorable treat after another dry donut. I have also tried their coffee cake that was brought to a family gathering last year and it too was dry (beyond what a coffee cake should be) and had a disappointing tiny smattering of crumble on top. And the person who brought it paid 17.00 for it! And last month I went to a birthday party where they served Carrot Cake from Anna's. Probably one of the worst Carrot Cakes I have ever eaten. Again, this was dry and very unhomemade in taste. The icing tasted like whipped plastic. How they have managed to stay in business all these years is a mystery.

Only place around., 2/12/2009

This is the only place near my work, so I kind of have to go here. I have gotten bagels/pastries about a dozen times now and have never really been happy. The donuts are dry, but tasty. The bagels have been hard everytime. They are not soft inside. The cakes are ok, but again, dry. *Are they missing an ingredient???* The staff is ok, very quick, but all pretty rude. Not very friendly, but I suppose waking up at the crack of dawn everyday wouldn't make me too happy either*, but I am not in customer service. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this place. Jack's is much better!

Yummy, 12/16/2008

The coffee is just "eh", but the ham and cheese croissant is delicious! It's a little strange to receive a cold croissant and have to warm it up in the microwave yourself, but it is tasty just the same.

Spot on food, desserts, 12/11/2008
Reviewer: Nicole from Santa Barbara, CA
The desserts here are delicious! They have a great location, perfect for a morning pick me up or afternoon snack. I've been there often to pick up treats for my office for birthdays, a welcome alternative to cake. The service has been hit and miss which I figure averages to 3 stars. Anna's bakery is delicious and I will definitely be back!

Great food deal with the cookie!

Try the Detroit sandwich, very good and big. You get a cookie with your order. While you are awaiting it to come up get a blenders in the grass shake next door!

C is for cookies, M is for mmm...

I was recently treated to an assortment of cookies from Anna's Bakery. I thought I would only eat half of a generous snickerdoodle, but it was impossible to keep from sampling the rest. IMPOSSIBLE. The ginger cookie - dense, chewy and spicy. The lemon bar - tangy and sweet. The frosted brownie - like chocolate torte. I was too full to try the chocolate chip cookie, but now I have reason to go to Anna's for a second round.

Overly critical customer below.

I thought this was supposed to be a food review site, not a dispute over credit card minimums. And the person below me is mistaken, there are many places that have a minimum (do your research). The sandwiches are good, i love the paninis. Try getting a pastry and a cup of coffee at starbucks and then come and complain about a measly $2.55.

Visa/MC merchant agreement violation NOT disclosed!
Reviewer: David from IV
I came here to purchase a donut and a cup of coffee, which came out to $2.55. Upon presenting my credit card for payment, the clerk rudely told me that there was a $3 minimum, and suggested that I purchase more food to comply with this. There was no signage or other documentation that alluded to such a limitation. I only specifically authorized that an amount of $2.55 be charged to the card, informing them that this 'minimum' is not allowed. Any place that imposes a minimum CC charge (and/or a fee for being under it) is violating Visa/MC's merchant agreement! The fact that such a limit was not disclosed until the point of sale is why I went out of my way to write this review.

Every day
Reviewer: Brandon from Goleta
I go here every day and the pastries are good... especially like the scones which are light and fluffy not the generic starbucks type which packs as much sugar/butter as possible, etc. Sure, not everything is 'spectacular' here, but, c'est la vie. The sandwiches aren't super wonderful. Nice staff too.

Ummmm not so good.....
Reviewer: Chanel from Goleta
My boyfriend and I have been to Anna's once before and got some pretty good assorted pasteries and decided we had to go again. This time we got some chocolate frosted doughnuts, a croissant, a sausage breakfast burrito and coffee. The doughnuts were NOT fresh! It was 9:00 am and no fresh doughnuts?! The croissant was good. I'm not trying to be mean but the burrito was disgusting. The tortilla was NOT fresh as stated below in another review the potatoes were under cooked (blah) the salsa was "Pace" brand, the inside of the burrito was extremely unappealing. We couldn't tell which of the blobs inside was the sausage or if there was any in it at all. Seriously, ewwww! 2 bites (one each, we were sharing) and the entire thing went in the trash Pace salsa and all. The staff is really sweet but that doesn't make up for the disgustig food.
