Terrible!!!, 6/24/2010
Reviewer: Laurel Daphne from Santa Barbara, CA
Brought a friend to a place I had heard was good and fresh. It was neither. After waiting for service ,where there was none, our "premixed" salads which were to be Greek salads were not Greek. The lettuce, which were all of three peices, were fresh, but the rest of the salad was Greek olives, which I told them I did not want, chopped red onion, soggy over ripe tomatoes, and chopped up peppers. All had been "pretossed" all right, like three days ago. All was soggy and over ripe, on the verge of spoiled. Then they topped off the Greek salad with Tofu looking feta. I requested "real feta" and being Greek, they tried to tell me, that was feta. When I told them it was not, they then went into the back and brought out some feta, that actually looked like feta. It did not help the soggy salad much. Unfresh produce and not responsive management.----will never return.

Fresco is , 4/17/2010

Hi! I LOVE Fresco in Five points! It is the place to be if fresh, beautiful, and very tasty is what you're looking for. The staff is very helpful, cheerful, amazingly efficient, and will ALWAYS make my/your experience the BEST ever. My brother and I go there at least once a week, and have been loyal consumers since Fresco opened in 1995. The atmosphere is delightful! Often there are various musicians who play great music, and the art on the walls are a treat to the eye. So, if you are looking for the most awesome food, service with a smile, and a great enriching experience go to FRESCO in 5 points!

Always good!, 4/7/2010

Fresco is always good, and the service has been consistently good as well. Most of the time they are busy, so the lines can get long, but the staff is well trained and the lines do move very fast. Everything that I have ordered there is always excellent -- I really haven't had a bad meal there. The desserts are always delicious and the service quick and very helpful! I love Fresco and am a very regular customer! Great quality, fresh food at great prices!

Bad Take-Out Experiece, 3/23/2010
Reviewer: Ryan from Santa Barbara, CA
While ordering out on 3/23 I waited for 25 minutes for my order. In that time I saw at least 3 others who had ordered after me get their food and leave. I went back up to the counter and asked what was going. The manager (?) looked confused when I brought this to his attention, and the girl who took my order said what my order was, then grabbed the bag that was sitting under the counter. I then asked how long it had been ready, and she had said "not long." I then told her that I had seen 3 others come and go and not ONCE was my name called. The manager walked away and had nothing to say. My food was not warm at all once I got it home. I was very disappointed with the service that I got this evening. I myself work in the service industry, and just find this completely unacceptable.

what happened?, 3/12/2010

Super friendly cashier who made our party feel welcome on a busy Friday night. Had a blackened fish (halibut) sandwich with soup of the day, (black bean ). The fish was a small filet which was overcooked, dry and tasteless...how is that possible with a "blackened" meat? Often it can be TOO spicy. The "puree" was fresh and healthy, but would have benefited from more spice, and a garnish of green onions, sour cream - anything to keep it from being so boring. No one else at the table commented on their food, and I was afraid to ask, being the one who suggested we go there. (BTW The blackened Halibut sandwich at SB Brewing Co. is fabulous - I would suggest Fresco go try it so they can see what this item should taste like.)

Ok food and service, 3/1/2010
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
The caesar salad was really good. The rest of the food was just Ok. Soup/sandwich so so. The dessert though decadent looking did not taste exceptional. The place did have a warm feeling inside, plenty of outdoor seating for lunch. Strange place that looks like it has table service but makes you order in line then wait for your food to come. Not extra special for me, it was similar to Fresco North and fell on the miss side. I'll leave this place and North for those who seem to like it!

SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!!!!! , 2/5/2010
Reviewer: Ashley Bonilla from Santa Barbara, CA
Starving, a picky eater, and a taste for texture, I decided to go to Fresco's with a friend. I'm not exactly a salad person (rabbit food aint my thing!) but I ordered the cheeseburger club triple decker and the side caesar salad to go with it. Okay so right now my mouth is watering. The place is AMAZING! That burger, that delicious, tasty, tender, huge slice of heaven...its so big I split it with friends or if I'm feeling really greedy-like yesterday (LOL) I eat the whole darn thing! So pretty much what I'm trying to say is, If you want something that's fresh, creative, and FREAKING TASTY please go here!!! And the only minus I could ever give this place is the line..then again it's there for a reason! Call in a to go order and they'll have your order ready in ten! ...Oh and be sure to check out the desserts..mmmm creme brulee after my burger..or the strawberry rhubarb a la mode..yum :)

Breakfast menu too limited, 11/30/2009
Reviewer: Chuck Benwitt from Santa Barbara, CA
Good quality fair prices...best deal are the half salad (or soup) and half sandwich. If you like to carry on a conversation with your dinner companion don't go on a night when they have "live music", You'll need to converse in decibals exceeding 140.

My number one favorite restaurant, 11/6/2009

I come here once every week, if not more, and the service is consistent, I always get welcomed with a smile and the staff is very personable and pleasant. The food is always delicious, I am never disappointed. I love all of the desserts, especially the carrot cake cupcake and the chocolate mousse truffles...mmm to die for! We love you fresco, keep up the good work!

Worst Soup Ever, 7/31/2009
Reviewer: Nik from Santa Barbara, CA
I usually love this place. Today when I walked by I looked at the menu in the window to see what the special was and saw they had Clam Chowder. I love Clam Chowder so I went in and bought a cup. I couldn't finish it. It was horrible. It tasted as if it had been out all day long sitting in a warmer. I asked for some Tabasco and the man pointed to a table. I went there and it was a small bottle and the top was missing. Usually the food is good here and the service matches. But not today. It was horrible!!!

fish tacos?
Reviewer: cass from Santa Barbara, CA
We have been trying to become regulars, but having a few set backs. Ordered the fish taco special w/ cabbage slaw and it was more like cabbage slaw taco w/ fish. Will try again. Good thing we ordered cupcakes for dessert to hold us over till breakfast! They were yummy :)

Two people ordered the same fish
Reviewer: Mike F. from Santa Barbara, CA
Meal #1 has bad/cold fries and the cole slaw cup was almost empty. Fish & Chips for $14 bucks I expect better. Meal #2 has good fries OK fish and a full cup of not so good slaw. The time before my friends were finished when I got my meal. We ordered at the same time. I have had some good meals here, however, the last two experiences were not good. OH, the soup was good and a full cup.

Nothing about the food
Reviewer: Darrell Brubaker from Elizabethtown, PA
This small complaint has nothing to do with the food or service or physical property. This is about image. I could not find any other way to contact the restaurant. Sorrry, but this is an easy fix. One must assume that you would like to put your best professional foot forward. To help accomplish this someone should proof read the copy before you post it. Your home page has a spelling error. I wasn't sure if you meant your restaurant was ecletic or electric. I figured it out when I read the same sentence on another page. Unfortunately there was another error on that page. Thirty-two is hyphenated. I'm just trying to help you out and perhaps some day I will have the opportunity to visit. Thank you.

Great lunch at Fresco
Reviewer: Ginny Robinson from San Diego, CA
We had a fantastic lunch with red pepper soup, caesar salad and pizza on our visit from San Diego. The meals arrived immediately and were hot and pleasantly presented. The ingredients are obviously fresh. Everything was delicious. Afterwards, we chose a chocolate ball of a cake and a wonderful cranberry, almond pineapple cake. Absolutely delicious. Mark is an incredible baker. Keep up the good work! We'll be back!

We're regulars

Thanks so much for the Chicken Tortilla soup that we enjoy every Wednesday. My husband always has 1/2 meatball sandwich with the gorgonzolla salad. With the soup I usually order the quiche. We keep going back for the good service and superb food. Waiters are always on top of things. We have no complaints thats why we keep going back.

The blond needs to go
Reviewer: Annie Williams from Santa Barbara, CA
As a former fresco regular, I have witnessed the steady decline in this once treasured Santa Barbara spot. Not only has the quality and consistency of the food suffered, but so has the service. I was in there recently and was appalled by the service I received while placing my order. The young woman at the front counter was inattentive and rude. I felt as though my business was unwanted, and in these tough times eating out is rare. I feel the quality of the food and the service do not warrant the prices. I would suggest you rethinking your staff and prices if you want to keep people coming back. Best part of my last visit was walking out.

Bad Dinner
Reviewer: Mari from Santa Barbara, CA
I AM GOING TO SAY THAT TONIGHT WAS NOT THE BEST SALADS EVER. USUALLY EAT THERE WITH MY DAUGHTER. WE WENT THERE TO GO HAVE DINNER,THEY TOOK OUR ORDER,WE WENT TO HAVE A SEAT AND WE WAITED 25 MINUTES BEFORE I GOT UP AND ASKED WHERE MY SALADS WERE AND THAT WE HAVE WAITED FOR A WHILE.WHEN WE WERE SITTING DOWN WAITING FOR OUR FOOD NOBODY CAME TO US AND ASKED IF WE HAD OUR DINNER. AFTER I WENT TO THE COUNTER I STILL HAD TO WAIT FOR 10 MORE MINUTES.WHEN WE GOT HOME WE TASTED OUR SALADS AND THEY TASTED LIKE THEY JUST PUT RANCH DRESSING ON TOP AND GAVE THEM TO US. THEY WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!!!IT WILL BE A WHILE BEFORE I GO THERE AGAIN.

Lame policies lose customers
Reviewer: Eric from Montecito
I was hungry for breakfast - I decided on Fresco and even found a close parking spot. There were three sweet little old ladies in front of me who offered to let me go before them but since I had yet to look at the menu I declined - this apparently was the difference between breakfast and no breakfast. It was approx 10:25am when I got in line and 10:32 when I finally made it to the ordering counter. The ladies had a hard time making up their minds. I ordered a breakfast sandwich only to have the young lady behind the counter call the kitchen to inquire if they would still make breakfast - like Howie Mandel on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" she reported back that the anonymous man up stairs said no breakfast - they stopped serving at 10:30 I left and ate elsewhere, I won't go back. Good job losing customers, Fresco!
