This place has a great location which is the only perk. Got burger and chicken Sandwhich. Fries and burger you could tell and taste it was from the freezer and the chicken was tasteless. Pretty expensive for less than average food.

the TV commercial shows a roasted turkey but what they give you is press a turkey it was the mushy cold and the gravy was terriblethe wine was overpriced and the pumpkin pie coldyou are better off buying a frozen pie and eating at home

Fun, casual, great view, great happy hour, 10/7/2012
Reviewer: CaliGirlForever from Santa Barbara, CA
Love this place mostly because the staff is friendly and accommodating and the views are great. It is comfortable and fun to eat here. They have an awesome happy hour. The wine isn't the best but it is okay and worth the happy hour price if you just want one glass. Lobster bisque is hit and miss. First time here was great and chunky and full of flavor. Most recently, it was watery, no chunks of seafood, and felt like a rip-off. Fish and chips are nothing special but I am not a good fish and chips connoisseur because do not order them often. Salmon cakes were great.

Well let me say; from the time we entered the Restaurant and greeted by the Manaager Jerry. We were plesantely surprised of the great service and Wonderful Food; I had the Whole Lobster Special and it was tremendous and my husband had the stuffed flounder and it was delicious!!! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for GREAT SEAFOOD or lunch!

My wife and I went to have a nice romantic dinner, but all we got was a noisy drunk group of people next to us, we did not enjoyed our special dinner and will not be back again.

For Fathersday this year my husband and son along with a few other fathers and sons were excited to sleep at SB zoo and stopped at Moby Dicks on Peir to start the fun. They were seated and after waiting were greated by waiter and given menus. Upon his return the men started to order. My husband orders the crab legs and steak ....the waiter replies " You know that its 34.99!!!! Now granted these men and boys are going camping and not dressed too the 9s but did it require an insult of doubt from the waiter??!!! My husband probably makes more than your staff combined!! What shocks me is I work in food and beverage and heard some things but really.... just rude then added % gratuity and didnot or could not remove. it?!?! Not worth $8 FYI Moby Dicks this is not the way to get return buisness!!!

Feeding College kids breakfast
Reviewer: Walter from San Diego, Ca
2nd time eating here, both times the food was good, nothing spectacular, good size portions & the service was attentive. This trip was for breakfast, 10 of us. As boaters, we like the water, so the views & smells from the pier suits us well.

Horrible Breakfasts
Reviewer: Randy from Santa Barbara, CA
The City of Santa Barbara takes pride in the number of fine restaurants in the area. However, at least for breakfast, Moby Dick's is certainly not one of them . I have been to their breakfast twice and each time our food came cold or luke warm, at best. Both times, we had taken guests from out of town there, and both times we have been sorely disappointed. So we've learned our lesson. If you want a great tasting, hot breakfast, take my word for it....don't go to Moby Dick's!

Very enjoyable lunch with a great view
Reviewer: Joe B. from Linwood,NJ
We stopped in for lunch on our PCH drive from LA to SF last summer...I don't remember what we had for lunch but I do remember that we all enjoyed our meals...the one item that I do recall was the rasberry mojito...I'm not usually a mojito drinker but it sounded interesting on a hot August afternoon...to this day I have not been able to find or mix one as good as the two that I enjoyed there.

Disappointing meal
Reviewer: Dave from Roseville, CA
Last meal in Santa Barbara was huge disappointment! Worst soup our famility has ever had. The Lobster Bisque was not creamy. Looked like it was thicken with corn starch. The clam chowder that came in the bread bowl was even worst. Tasted bad and again it looked like it was thicken with corn starch. Should have paid our bill and left after the soup but we didn't The salads were plain and the main dishes were simple and uninspiring. My wife's fish tacos were OK. Would never go there again.

So dissapointing
Reviewer: dave from Santa Barbara, CA
Worst seafood I ever had. I had high expectations after seeing the commercials that have been airing. The food was totally bland and full of grease the flavor of everything was the same, grease! As for the prices of the menu they are nuts! $6.00 for a cup of canned chowder! Stay home!

not quite average
Reviewer: chris from Santa Barbara, CA
After a couple years, we decided to give MD's another try since they joined the Axxess program and that lessened the gamble. It's good to read that the lobster is so tasty, because we can't say much for the crab cakes or stuffed fish. The base fish was over-cooked and dry; crab cake flavor was OK, but texture was over-processed and bready without identifiable crab. Veggies might have felt steam, but not for long; broccoli was essentially raw. OK potato, and nice fresh greens as a salad. Service was friendly and competent, attentive without being obtrusive. Maybe the deep fried stuff is better? Same great tourist-friendly location, same inexplicably mediocre kitchen.

Lobster!
Reviewer: Stuart from Santa Barbara, CA
My wife and I went here for the lobster special which was teriffic. The lobster itself was better than the ones we have had at the seafood restaurant located up State Street a few blocks. And it was cheaper too. There was less choice here than at the other place as you can choose clam chowder (white) or salad to start and choice of potato but no other sides to choose from. My wife ordered the chowder and I ordered the salad and we swapped because we liked what the other ordered more! The menu also featured a clam bake style dish which I will order next time. We sat on the patio overlooking the harbor and service was very good. We've also come here for breakfast and enjoyed it very much. But definitely come for the Lobster Special. It was great.

Expensive prices for really poor food
Reviewer: Ana Berg from Santa Barbara, CA
A word of caution: go for the cheaper items on the menu, and you probably won't be disappointed. But stay away from the pricier ones. I ordered the $24 halibut, but was served some other white fish similar to cod. The baked potato was soggy (microwaved) and the vegetables scarce. The waiter failed to bring us water, but did ask three times if we wanted to order more wine. A disappointing experience (again) – and this time, hopefully the last time.

Lobster Deal a grat way to celebrate a birthday

The lobster was delicious, it is a great way to make a birthday special. Our server, Johnathan, was the best. He patiently took care of everyone in our group and we all left having had a memorable evening.

Best Maine Lobster in SoCal
Reviewer: MICHAEL from Burbank, Ca
I've been here a few times and every time I get the Maine lobster deal because it is by far the best Maine lobster I've found in Southern California. I'm from New England so I'm picky about my lobster. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this page because I've always had great service and excellent food there.

Average
Reviewer: Monica from Pasadena, CA
I've been here a few different times, and it's just average. It gets traffic only because it's on the wharf, as with many other restaurants around. For seafood, pass up Moby Dick and walk to the end of the pier to the fish market. Not glamourous, but tasty.

Horrible Service at Moby Dick Resturant
Reviewer: Drew Riimmer from Santa Barbara, CA
I am hugely upset with the service at Moby Dick . My wife and I have been coming here for years. We loved everything we have ever ordered here. But as we were set to have an awesome 4th of July, we ventured in and ordered crab legs and steak( med. rare). Mine was fine .Although my wife's was completely over cooked. We politely asked to have another made. The manager proceeded to escort the returned meat back out to us, pick through it with a fork and attest that it was cooked to medium rare (which it wasn't) He then preceded to ask how he should have the cooks prepare the next piece ( obviously not as charred as before)...what we received was a cold piece of meat that was seared on each side. That was the largest insult I have ever gotten in a restaurant in all my life. I would hope that the executive management will be forwarded this review. I will have to think twice before we enter back into Moby Dick's again. To the Manager of Moby Dick's on July 4th 2011,you need to learn some customer service....!

Dinner a year ago
Reviewer: Mary Ann Peebles from Santa Barbara, CA
I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, and always visit this resturant when i come back in town. The last few times the menu was awful! and the food wasnt very good either. I hope next week when we are in town we will come here for dinner again and hopefully it will be much better. Because I love to sit near the ocean and look out at all the people and boats.

What NO Breakfast????
Reviewer: Penny from Santa Barbara, CA
Ive lived on the Mesa for 30 years and I rarely go to the pier much less Moby Dick's and heres why...the food is average too expensive and the drinks are weak. I brought out of town friendsto Moby Dicks on graduation weekend where sambo's had an hour long wait......so we went to Mobys no line (now I know why)They did not serve breakfast after 11 on a SUNDAY! We orderd from the lunch menu but requested two eggs over medium and the management said NO!!!!! What restaurant does that ??????
