Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinner, 1/26/2014
Reviewer: Kae from Santa Barbara, CA
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with just two, and then Christmas dinner with four. The food was delicious at Thanksgiving, which is what brought us back at Christmas. Three of us had the traditional turkey meal and one of us had Christmas fish. Every thing was hot, tasty, well-prepared, and with good service. We're lucky to live in such a beautiful location with super friendly restaurants like Moby's.

Bait and Switch (literally) - do not get tricked here, 9/5/2013

These guys play tricks with the pricing and the service is very slow. Their menu showed meals for different seafood with chowder or salad, potato or rice etc. to accompany them. Maine Lobster in that section was marked 'Market Price'. I asked how much that was and they said $39.95, which was also displayed outside the restaurant. I tried to order two of these with the chowder, potato etc. They then suddenly informed me that the chowder, potato etc was $10 'extra', even though the menu said it was included....(go figure). In other words the lobster as shown on the menu was really priced at $49.95, even though they told me it was $39.95. When I tried to rectify this with the manager he simply said I should leave. Since I had family there and did not want to be embarrassed we stayed and I ended up paying the $49.95 twice! I guess somehow this is illegal but the manager seemed to be fine doing it. I guess he knows it's tourists most of whom do not come back...

Excellent Service, 8/28/2013

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at Moby Dick... our 1st visit. The special of the day (cod piccata) was great and the Maine lobster was good though perhaps a little bit over cooked. The view from the pier is incredible. The star of the evening was our server Suzanne. She was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. She inquired if we were visiting the area (we were) and then gave us ideas for things to do. She is truly an ambassador for the City of Santa Barbara and for Moby Dick. Overall it was an enjoyable evening.

Overpriced and mediocre quality of food, 5/24/2013
Reviewer: Mike from Santa Barbara, CA
Been there a few times and the food is usually mediocre, and the prices too high for that quality. My steak/shrimp combo was not good. Shrimp were cold, and steak was poor quality and not medium (pink center that I asked for). For the baked potato, I had to ask for chives with the sour cream - that should be automatic, and I only got a very little bit. My wife's alfredo seafood on pasta was pretty good however. I think they could improve a lot by serving the food on a warmed plate like some other restaurants.

This place has a great location which is the only perk. Got burger and chicken Sandwhich. Fries and burger you could tell and taste it was from the freezer and the chicken was tasteless. Pretty expensive for less than average food.

.the worst Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had

the TV commercial shows a roasted turkey but what they give you is press a turkey it was the mushy cold and the gravy was terriblethe wine was overpriced and the pumpkin pie coldyou are better off buying a frozen pie and eating at home

Fun, casual, great view, great happy hour
Reviewer: CaliGirlForever from Santa Barbara, CA
Love this place mostly because the staff is friendly and accommodating and the views are great. It is comfortable and fun to eat here. They have an awesome happy hour. The wine isn't the best but it is okay and worth the happy hour price if you just want one glass. Lobster bisque is hit and miss. First time here was great and chunky and full of flavor. Most recently, it was watery, no chunks of seafood, and felt like a rip-off. Fish and chips are nothing special but I am not a good fish and chips connoisseur because do not order them often. Salmon cakes were great.

This was our first visit to Santa Barbara and decided to find out for ourselves how good was Moby Dick. WOW did that anser my question. Well let me say; from the time we entered the Restaurant and greeted by the Manaager Jerry. We were plesantely surprised of the great service and Wonderful Food; I had the Whole Lobster Special and it was tremendous and my husband had the stuffed flounder and it was delicious!!! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for GREAT SEAFOOD or lunch!

My wife and I went to have a nice romantic dinner, but all we got was a noisy drunk group of people next to us, we did not enjoyed our special dinner and will not be back again.

For Fathersday this year my husband and son along with a few other fathers and sons were excited to sleep at SB zoo and stopped at Moby Dicks on Peir to start the fun. They were seated and after waiting were greated by waiter and given menus. Upon his return the men started to order. My husband orders the crab legs and steak ....the waiter replies " You know that its 34.99!!!! Now granted these men and boys are going camping and not dressed too the 9s but did it require an insult of doubt from the waiter??!!! My husband probably makes more than your staff combined!! What shocks me is I work in food and beverage and heard some things but really.... just rude then added % gratuity and didnot or could not remove. it?!?! Not worth $8 FYI Moby Dicks this is not the way to get return buisness!!!

Excellent food and service.

Feeding College kids breakfast

2nd time eating here, both times the food was good, nothing spectacular, good size portions & the service was attentive. This trip was for breakfast, 10 of us. As boaters, we like the water, so the views & smells from the pier suits us well.

Horrible Breakfasts
Reviewer: Randy from Santa Barbara, CA
The City of Santa Barbara takes pride in the number of fine restaurants in the area. However, at least for breakfast, Moby Dick's is certainly not one of them . I have been to their breakfast twice and each time our food came cold or luke warm, at best. Both times, we had taken guests from out of town there, and both times we have been sorely disappointed. So we've learned our lesson. If you want a great tasting, hot breakfast, take my word for it....don't go to Moby Dick's!

Very enjoyable lunch with a great view
Reviewer: Joe B. from Linwood,NJ
We stopped in for lunch on our PCH drive from LA to SF last summer...I don't remember what we had for lunch but I do remember that we all enjoyed our meals...the one item that I do recall was the rasberry mojito...I'm not usually a mojito drinker but it sounded interesting on a hot August this day I have not been able to find or mix one as good as the two that I enjoyed there.
