I had read the reviews and was a little bit concerned as I booked a dinner for my daughter's UCSB graduation, but after emailing the manager several times, decided to go for it. Glad we did. The table did have a lovely view and although our waiter seemed a little overwhelmed in the beginning, the only falter of the evening was that they forgot my dad''s drink. We got it after 3 tries, and from there on, the food and service were good. My family raved about the salmon and vegetables especially. The steak was good, the drinks were tasty and not weak, and everyone had a great time. Thank you to Moby Dick's!

good food great view

Went there at noon wanting breakfast, turns out no breakfast after 11am. I stayed anyway, got coffee and they start you off with bread and butter. I ordered the turkey burger with cheese and seasoned fries, came out perfect. The service was also very good. The place was clean with a great view.

Don't get lobster bisque
Reviewer: Cristina from Merced, CA
I had never been to this restaurant and wanted some lobster bisque and my mom got the clam chowder. Her clam chowder which was good because my lobster bisque barely had any lobster, probably less then 3 pieces, I was very disappointed.

service OK

Terrible food, ordered grilled Alasken cod NOT GRILLED! same with the vegstibls.frozen shrimp & fries not going to cut it.To cheap to buy coasters with their own name, they have the names of beers on them they don't even serve! WHAT'S WITH THAT! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinner
Reviewer: Kae from Santa Barbara, CA
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with just two, and then Christmas dinner with four. The food was delicious at Thanksgiving, which is what brought us back at Christmas. Three of us had the traditional turkey meal and one of us had Christmas fish. Every thing was hot, tasty, well-prepared, and with good service. We're lucky to live in such a beautiful location with super friendly restaurants like Moby's.

Bait and Switch (literally) - do not get tricked here
Reviewer: Richard from Santa Barbara, CA
These guys play tricks with the pricing and the service is very slow. Their menu showed meals for different seafood with chowder or salad, potato or rice etc. to accompany them. Maine Lobster in that section was marked 'Market Price'. I asked how much that was and they said $39.95, which was also displayed outside the restaurant. I tried to order two of these with the chowder, potato etc. They then suddenly informed me that the chowder, potato etc was $10 'extra', even though the menu said it was included....(go figure). In other words the lobster as shown on the menu was really priced at $49.95, even though they told me it was $39.95. When I tried to rectify this with the manager he simply said I should leave. Since I had family there and did not want to be embarrassed we stayed and I ended up paying the $49.95 twice! I guess somehow this is illegal but the manager seemed to be fine doing it. I guess he knows it's tourists most of whom do not come back...

Excellent Service

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at Moby Dick... our 1st visit. The special of the day (cod piccata) was great and the Maine lobster was good though perhaps a little bit over cooked. The view from the pier is incredible. The star of the evening was our server Suzanne. She was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. She inquired if we were visiting the area (we were) and then gave us ideas for things to do. She is truly an ambassador for the City of Santa Barbara and for Moby Dick. Overall it was an enjoyable evening.

Overpriced and mediocre quality of food
Reviewer: Mike from Santa Barbara, CA
Been there a few times and the food is usually mediocre, and the prices too high for that quality. My steak/shrimp combo was not good. Shrimp were cold, and steak was poor quality and not medium (pink center that I asked for). For the baked potato, I had to ask for chives with the sour cream - that should be automatic, and I only got a very little bit. My wife's alfredo seafood on pasta was pretty good however. I think they could improve a lot by serving the food on a warmed plate like some other restaurants.

Avoid
Reviewer: Danielle from Santa Barbara, CA
This place has a great location which is the only perk. Got burger and chicken Sandwhich. Fries and burger you could tell and taste it was from the freezer and the chicken was tasteless. Pretty expensive for less than average food.
