We LOVE this pizza. Was my dad's favorite pizza joint & now my 5-year old son even says it's his "favorite pizza in the whole wide world". Their pizza is still the BEST and the service is still AWESOME..the guys there are always nice! Love the crust, love the sauce, love the toppings! DEANO's forever!!!

We have several choices on the Mesa, but this is outstanding pizza with friendly staff. Eat in or take out is great. The chicken florentine is excellent, and the salad bar is fresh and delicious.

As a local business owner I question the reviews that state rude service and do not give any details. I have always received great service from Rudy and others over the years. Deano's pizza is excellant, period. I have ordered dozens and dozens and dozens of pizzas for my employees & myself over the last 10 years. My staff and myself have been recommending Deano's to our accommodation guests for over 10 years. Guest comments are always positive and they inform us they will visit Deanno's again on their next visit to SB. If service is rude or unacceptable, its only fair for the customer to bring this up with the owner or management before posting these type of reviews. Give business a chance to remedy if actually true. If the food is bad take it back and ask for a refund ! They offer great specials thru the Santa Barbara discount book which our business is listed in also. Hats off to DEAN-O'S PIZZARAMA!!

I've lived on the Mesa most of my life. Dean-o's is the best. Don't know about the complaints folks have, I don't. Always good service, nice people, cold beer, great pizza!

Deano's is hands down my favorite pizza in SB! The crust is really like no other, crispy bottom with a fluffy top and delicious. For the people complaining about the service......its's a pizza parlor not fine dining. If you want to be waited on, go to a full service restaurant. How much service do you need? Order your Pizza, get your drinks, sit down and wait for them to call your number. Now if you excuse me I need to go pick up my Large Pep and Pineapple. Learn about it!!!!!! SBL

Good Food and Service, different kind of pizza, 8/14/2009

The pizza here looks like Giovanni's type on inspection but the crust was very different, kind of cardboard crisp feel to it. I did not much appreciate it though as refrigerator pizza the next day it had softened up and was really good. The service was good(maybe they listened to previous reviewers) both the order taker and the drink(mini bar server) were very cordial. Apparently the oldest pizza place in Santa Barbara, they also advertise as "voted best in SB" but not sure which poll that is from.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of the previous reviewers who referenced poor service at Dean-o’s Pizzarama. I moved up to the Mesa a year and a half ago and as a new resident I was committed to patronizing the local businesses/restaurants. Well unfortunately I could not honor that commitment as far as Dean-o’s was concerned. The first time I went there I received unfriendly service from both the cashier and the bartender respectively. I thought it was just a fluke or an “off day” so I went back for a return visit a couple weeks later since the pizza was okay. But again, I got the same uninspired and borderline rude “service” (if you want to call it that). I guess temporary insanity must have gotten the better of me and I decided to give it one more try (my son likes their video games). Big mistake…I got more of the same lousy treatment. That was over a year ago and I have not returned to Dean-o’s since. But judging by the below reviews, it appears nothing has changed. It’s sad to say, but it is the one Mesa establishment that has lost my business forever.

I called in to order 3 pizzas for the UFC 99 fight and the kid on the phone was one of the rudest people I have encountered in about a decade. Sure they may be busy and don't give a crap about my order but eventually if enough people are treated this way they may regret it and miss orders like mine.

I really like the place and eat there somewhat often with family. I love the pizza and rarely get one that doesnt taste how I would expect it. However, the employees are a joke and there's no excuse for it. Is there ever a manager or owner around? I understand there is a lot of downtime while making pizza but the staff seems off in their own world. Even a little bit of appreciation and attentivness to customers would make a huge difference. It becomes an unwelcoming place if the staff does not try.

Is everybody working at this place high? Real lack of energy on both the food prep and the service. Soggy crust, weird taste to the tomato. This used to be my favorite place for pie, not any more after this visit.

Last night I took my girlfriend and kids to dinner at Dean-o's pizza.
When I went to get our drinks, there was no one at the bar.
The "bartender" was on a stool on the customer side, slouched on the bar, with his head in the corner. He had a blue rag on his head, with a baseball cap on top of that.
He slouched out of his seat, got our drinks, and deposited them on his side of the bar. He appeared to not want to be there, not want to help us, and clearly didn't want a tip, despite the "Tips" pitcher on the bar.
But the part that REALLY disgusted...was when he used the towel off his head to WIPE DOWN THE SALAD BAR.
Dean-o's has GREAT pizza...but they SERIOUSLY need to find employees who are pleasant to customers, act like they want to be there, look and act professionally...and maintain a SANITARY workplace.

I love this pizza joint! I love the guys that work there and the pizza is just my style. I had an unusual situation the last time I ate there and I contacted the "General Manager" via phone to explain the incident of my out of sorts pizza. Much to my surprise he did NOT greet me sympathetically... didn't even offer to replace my pie. I am disappointed in your choice of representation. Still going to eat the on the regular, hey like I said I love the place :)

Dean-o's is probably the best pizza in town, their cooking style and sauce are unique and I've never had any other pizza like it. Their sauce and dough are fantastic. I hope they stick around forever.

I enjoy many styles and genres of pizza, so in that perspective, Deano's is TOPS for pizza making of the 70's & 80's generation. Anytime I crave that type of pizza, Deano's is coveted! I try to hit the spot every couple of weeks & love the ambiance of people throwing beers down at 11am watching sports. . the guys hustling in the back trying to keep the legacy alive! If you get that old school urge, Deano's delivers!

Quite simply, Deano's is the best pizza in Santa Barbara. I crave it regularly. I love the sauce, the cheese, the flavor. I LOVE that they haven't changed the atmosphere, it evokes years of family history. And it's one of the few places in town with a real pinball game. As a native Californian, I think the Chicago reviewer should go back to the mid-west and stay there. There's too many people in Ca anyway. GO HOME and eat your own yucky pizza and we'll keep loving Deano's for another 40 years. Deano's ROCKS!
