Mediocre food, uncomfortable environment, 11/26/2014
Reviewer: Peter from Santa Barbara, CA
Having eaten here a couple times I have to say that I'm far from impressed. The other morning I saw the owner practically chase down a pregnant lady for accidentally parking in a no parking zone. She was literally yelling at her. I regretted ever buying any food from her establishment. The sandwiches are sometimes stale because they're made in the morning. I had a friend tell me that of the multiple times she's been there they've always been out of bagels or breakfast burritos which make up half their breakfast menu. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Good Food in a Tense Atmosphere, 10/3/2014

I really want to like and support this place. I love having a home grown Goleta business that focuses on local and fresh ingredients. My husband and I have tried it 4 times and can absolutely recommend the food. But you can tell when the manager is having a bad day. 3 of the 4 times we have been here you can cut the tension in the air with a knife. Behind the counter the workers are mostly young and sweet, but whoever the manager is (is it Paige?), she is curt and rude to her staff. I don't want to support a place that doesn't value their staff as much as their customers.

Not open Saturday!, 2/23/2014

Tried to go for breakfast yesterday. They turned us away, saying they aren't open on Sat.

BEST FOOD IN SB/GOLETA!
Reviewer: Erin from Santa Barbara, CA
I eat here 4+ times a week, and the food never disappoints! The service is great, staff and customers are always super friendly. All ingredients are sourced from farmers markets, or direct from the farms, using organic when available. Delicious, different, healthy (and not so healthy)! The MUST try list: mint lemonade, mezza plate, sesame noddle salad, french professor, and bacon breakfast burrito!

Updated Review......Be Careful of the time of Day you go

I still love allot about this place but. They stock very minimal product. I have gone several times between 845 and 9a and they are out of bagels. Also, they pre-make their sandwiches in advance and if you go after 1-2p they are often out of sandwiches and although they are still open, they dont make any more. I guess I appreciate they dont waste food, so thats good, but afterall they are open to make revenue. So go early especially on the weekends and do lunch before 1p and you will be delighted !

Goodland Breakfast = Great Food

We recommend the breakfast panini, Spanish tortilla, & currant scone with apricot jam -- all house made and excellent. Coffee was hot and strong. Going back for sure

Not just a Kitchen, full deal.... lots of food choices...
Reviewer: Chris from Santa Barbara, CA
This little restaurant is wonderful! Finally found it, and was surprised that it's more than just a kitchen. A unique eating concept - flavor AND nutrition at the same time! Lots of picnic table seating - most of it in the shade. Great lunch spot, once you find it. And there's a Studio opening nearby with Pilates classes!!!!! Definitely the Good Land. Not huge portions, just right portions. Mom-sized, not McDonald-sized.

I Hope They Stick Around

The food was good here and the service friendly and youthful. It is just the kind of place you hope does well because it seems like the people who run it put a lot of energy into it. For $8 I got a half a sandwich and a soup, both which were great. The sandwich portion was pretty small though for that price, I would of liked something a bit bigger. It was the bike path sandwich which they say is a southern France specialty. It was tasty.

I love the Goodland Market!

I had the sesame noodle salad. It was fantastic. Service is great too!

Good Food
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
People seemed nice. Really no ambience etc here, more like an organic sandwich stand. Some tables outside. Also no outside sign, previous reviewer said former Esmerelda Market is what I had to go on that got me there. They need to put up a permanent sign assuming they own the building. Its on the beach side off Hollister in Old Town across Hollister from Jewelry mart on side street around the corner from Larry's auto parts. I'm sure they will double their business if they put a sign up! Though I would not call the mint lemonade "legendary" it was different and pretty good but seemed kind of simple to make to brag about with some chopped up mint leaves at the bottom of a lemonade basically. The sandwiches were good and nicely prepared beforehand so you don't have to wait. The place is modeled after something similar to a Co-op but still don't quite understand how it works, they buy from local farms like a co-op but they also rent out the kitchen for others. Worth a try if you can find it!

A great new lunch spot for the Goleta crowd
Reviewer: SLV from Santa Barbara, CA
First of all I have to say, the mint lemonade will no doubt be legendary in another month or two... this stuff is amazing!! I took mine back to work with me and spent the afternoon feeling like I was getting away with something. It was that good! I was very impressed with how organized this tiny spot is, even in the midst of a lunch rush I got my sandwich and drink quickly along with some friendly conversation. My sandwich ("the French Professor") was excellent - simple, decently sized, with well balanced flavors. My only complaint/suggestion is that the baguette was very hard - but I may just be out of practice from not eating enough baguette lately. It was certainly not stale, just very crusty! Such a great lunch, though, and the pickles that accompanied it were out of this world. I will be returning frequently to eat my way through the menu.

I've been twice so far and enjoy the fare

I particularly like the mint lemonade but both sandwiches I've had have been satisfying. They throw off a nice vibe in the Goodland :-) EMI
