nice people, little selection, 4/21/2009

I went into the market looking for good fresh meals. I was sad by the size of their deli and there was very little "new" selection overall. I find many of the same items in Vons, Albertsons, etc. Many shelf items I picked-up were set to expire which made me concerned with how long some of the food may have been sitting. I walked in ready to fill a basket and walked out with only a coffee and a deli selection. Their "made-to-order" lunches looked excellent and I will return to try one. The coffee was very good! However I was sticker shocked by the fact that three very small wing sized pieces of chicken, that did have good flavor, and a coffe costing over $10.00! Prices seem inflated all around.

i think that the employees at the summerland store are the most helpful they can be with the potential of knowing what they know. you cant expect them to know every little thing you possibly ask them when at some times they may not know. i think that they handle customer service very well and why cant they be happy and chatty its a market and they would like to be lively! i think that the store is great and should keep up the good work and the deli food is outstanding!

Awful Service. Where's the Manager??, 3/12/2009

I've been to the one in SB several times and thought they were decent. I had a BOGO deal throught a discount card and figured I'd give this location a try.
First thing I noticed when I walked in was a few of the cashiers just chit chatting and laughing away at the front not paying any attention to anyone walking in. I tell the deli person (who was very nice by the way) that I have a discount card to confirm that it's good on any sandwiches since all it said in the discount book was "Buy one breakfast or sandwich item - get one free" - no other restrictions listed. All was fine. I go to pay and the young girl at the counter charges me for both sandwiches and argues with me (even though the discount book was sold in their market and she even looked at their own ad!!) that I didn't not order a right sandwich. BS. I don't think this girl could have been more obnoxious or unhelpful if she tried. I asked for the manager and was told he's "not here." I then asked to speak to someone in charge (eg: shift supervisor) and was told, "there is no one in charge here." I called later to try and speak to the manager but was not successful. I kept getting the same girl who told me there was no one in charge around. I couldn't even leave a message.
But for a place that just opened up not too long ago in a tiny community like Summerland, I expect better service! There is just no excuse. I will never come back based on this one experience.

It is my daily stop either for the cup of tea with a morning treat or for lunch, one of the great sandwichs made fresh. The soups are so ummy and in fact I am leaving the office now and popping over there for my dinner.

For seasoned organic and high quality shoppers, this is a good 'nook', will be trying the deli soon! Bonus: Bathroom is clean and stylish for a market.

Overpriced, poor selections

The shelves are not comlpetely full giving you a sense that something is missing. Not much selection in terms of anything. Wouldn't go out of my way to shop here...I live in Summerland and have only ventured here a few times. Keep the doors open later and add more stock, you have the room. The deli doesn't really live up to its counterpart downtown as well.
