GREAT Food, very understaffed
Reviewer: Anders from Santa Barbara, CA
The food is always great here, the margaritas were good, and it's a nice place to hang out in good weather. But I've been going here for a few years now and it seems to be forever a "work in progress" and never a completed restaurant. The prices on the menu were mostly inaccurate, they were severely understaffed--basically only had one person running all orders AND the bar on a Saturday, at Happy Hour, in beautiful weather! There was a pretty long line of people waiting to order. The cash register didn't work correctly, so it wouldn't allow me to use my card more than once or it would just give a system error. This was a shame because I wanted to stay and order more drinks but I couldn't! The large margarita pitcher was pointless because you get more beverage if you buy their margaritas one glass at a time. We measured out the large pitcher and it actually came out more expensive than buying per glass. Then on top of all this, I tried to have a sports game switched on one of the televisions (which I have had them do before, successfully) and they asked me to wait until they were less busy at the bar (which was understandable since they only had one person working the bar) and I waited for over an hour, but they were never able to figure out how to switch the channels on the TVs. Such a shame as I need a good place to eat, drink, and watch basketball games, and I was hoping this would be the place. But they couldn't figure out how to change the channel on the TV, they seemed to try, but just said it was "too difficult" to figure out. I don't think I need to expound on the process of changing a television channel here; if you can read, then chances are you know how to change the channel on your TV. This seemed like a very basic training issue. The servers/bartender were pleasant, but very busy and overworked. Great place for food! But don't come with any other expectations.

New ownership!

Taco Tuesday
Reviewer: Cristopher Sugleris from Santa Barbara, CA
Cabo's has great little Mexican Style street tacos and on Tuesdays they are 1.29 each. Avoid the chicken, but try the Pastor and Asada! Great food at a great price.

good food great drinks
Reviewer: Bozo from chino hills, CA
I have had dinner and lunch here and both were great, favor and presentation. The caddy margies are some of the best, sit outside sip a few munch some taco and watch the day go by.

A Must to Visit
Reviewer: Mark from Los Angeles, CA
Whether your a local or someone like myself who visits Carpenteria on a regular basis, you'll always find the food, the drinks to be outstanding; especially the Tri-Tip or Chicken Strips - one of my favorites. The other thing I like about this place is, you place your order inside, find a seat within the outdoor patio or inside eating areas - then shortly thereafter the staff brings you your order - very pleasant atmosphere. I have recommended this place to my friends and family who too have enjoyed this restaurant as well.

Good food, OK service
Reviewer: Matt from Carpinteria, CA
My wife thinks these are the best tacos in town. The food takes a long time, so sit back and relax. The chips are really good, and their spicier salsa is very flavorful.

Go for the Maui Maui Fish Tacos
Reviewer: Kelly Anne Fuller from Hacienda Heights, Ca.
Best Maui Maui fish tacos we ever had !! This was our first time at Cabo's and were not disapointed - A great lunch stop - fun atmosphere - excellent food - a bit pricey but worth it !

Pretty good food, more outside bar feel to place
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Stopped on a whim off the freeway as its easily accessable. Not bad food, more of an outdoors bar atmosphere with Tequila etc. Have to wait for the fresh chips to come out(I asked)and pass on the stale ones. Salsa good. Good non battered mahi mahi taco I had. Not bad but I'll probably try one of the higher ranked places next time I go through town. Carne Asada wife had was pretty good there. Order taking can be slow.

The Worst.
Reviewer: K Hering from Carpinteria, Ca
I live in Carp and I've been wondering about Cabo's for a long time. Today I had the opportunity to have lunch there with my sister. The laid back tropical atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing and at first glance the extensive menu seemed great and reasonably priced. The Cashier and wait staff were friendly and helpful. We sat outside on the patio and I decided i was glad I came. Then everything changed when I started eating. The all-you-can eat chips are a little stale and some are burned. The salsa is nothing special. Our food took a pretty long time, even though the restaurant was not busy. It is served on flimsy styro-foam plates. I had a hard time taking more than one bite and I am not a picky eater at all! I got the chicken tostada and the chicken was yellow and tough. The beans were bland, the avocado under-ripe and oxidized... overall unappealing. Good thing I was half full on the chips already. From now on, when I'm hungry for that kind of fun atmosphere I will go elsewhere.

Un-impressive!!
Reviewer: Christina from Carpinteria, CA
I love mexican food, but Cabo's did not satisfy! Ordered a tostada... nothing was fresh, the cheese was clearly the processed kind from a package, the avocado was not ripe, yet brown... the beans had no flavor... the chips were somewhat stale, I picked through them so I wouldn't get any of the burned ones... salsa mediocre... The cashier was very helpful though. Taco Bell would be a couple of steps up.

Food isn't bad; but service is TERRIBLE
Reviewer: Chris from Carpinteria, CA
The best thing about Cabo's is the outdoor seating. This is one of the few spots in Carp where you can get together with friends and enjoy the Carp vibe. The worst part is their service. Be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes in line even if there are only one or two people ahead of you. Speed of service is not a priority here. Food is average. Not bad, but nothing great.

good place to drink outdoors
Reviewer: elaine from carp. ca
Its a great place to sit outside, and enjoy drinks with friends. The fish tacos are tasty, too.

Pretty good...
Reviewer: Tasha from Santa Barbara, CA
This is a very cute little cafe-like place and I was rather pleased with my whole experience. I went with six other girls and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Everyone there was very friendly, which was a nice plus. It's probably not the best food around (the tri-tip on my sandwich was rather tough), but the atmosphere is worth it... and there's free chips and salsa! Very nice!

Great place to hang
Reviewer: Dan from Los Angles
I've been here two or three times. It's a great place to get a taco and a beer and just hang out on the patio in the sun with the music playing while watching the traffic and people go by. It's a very relaxing place. I like the chicken tacos they have and the free nachos deal is awesome. This and Siam ELephant are my favorites in Carp.

The Carpinteria vibe...
Reviewer: B.C. from Carpinteria
This is the kind of place I would take my buddies when they visit from out of town - half bar, half restaurant. The service staff was very polite and friendly and the ambience was fun and casual. My tritip sandwich and beans were good - no complaints. Be aware that the bar had some liquor but did not appear to be "fully stocked." The best way I can characterize Cabo's is that it has great food for a bar, and that it has a great bar for such a casual restaurant. The outdoor patio is right on Carpinteria Avenue, near the hub at Linden, and is a great place to relax and soak up the Carp vibe.

Great Summer Fun
Reviewer: jeana from Laguna Beach, CA
Cabo's offers a fun place to eat good mexican food. The loud upbeat music and friendly service really makes it enjoyable. I really liked the salsa and chip bar: it's serve yourself chips and the salsa is great! Cabo's is one of those places you'd like to sit out on the patio with a beer, listen to the music, and soak up the sun - a perfect summer spot!

Great place to stop by
Reviewer: wendy wareham from San Diego, CA
We discovered this place accidentally two years ago, and have gone out of our way to eat there everytime we are in Carp. The food is cheap, the service great, and ambiance is fun, and it is all very kid-proof. My kids love the kids meal choices, and we love the serve-yourself-chips and salsa bar. On Friday PM's, it looks like a great happy hour gets started, by I usually split and head north before the traffic gets bad (plus, kids don't like happy hour very much!).

WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!
Reviewer: Nancy from Anaheim, CA
We found this place by chance on our way to Solvang on Mother's Day weekend. There were 6 of us and we all raved about the food, the decor and ESPECIALLY the service. We liked it so much that we stopped by on our way home from Solvang. This will be a lunch stop for us from now on when we are in the area. It has that "Cabo" kind of atmosphere and looks like it would be a fun night spot. Can't wait to go back!!
