Not very "express"
Reviewer: Tae-Sik from Santa Barbara, CA
I am only reviewing on behalf of the Seafood Yakisoba. I was in Isla Vista and decided to drop in because of my love for Japanese food. The food took 20 minutes to prepare and the "seafood" was not fresh at all. The shrimp was very tiny and unsatisfying. The noodles were decent but greasy. Mediocre at its best and overpriced for the quality. Not coming back again.

if this is good sushi in IV...
Reviewer: Justin from Santa Barbara, CA
Then go somewhere else for sushi. The rolls are huge, sure, but the fish is not fresh, and the quality is horrible. How can a restaurant be a quarter mile from the ocean and have old fish? I had some udon, and it was awful. No garnishes, the broth was like water, the noodles were overdone, and overall it was just disappointing for the price. I don't even know how to rate service, this just isn't that kind of place. You bus your own table, fill your own drinks, all they do is punch it into the register and let you know when it's ready. Not that that's bad, but how do you rate service when there is none?

Best Japanese in IV, quick(i.e. express!)
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Great food and got the food very quickly. Only strange thing is to have a movie playing w/o sound and hip music playing instead(get to go if this bothers you) but nice and spacious inside. Blows away both Caliroll Express(which is terrible and not express) and Little Asia(which is Big on not being great).

AHORA TIENEN A UNO DE LOS MEJORES CHEFT
Reviewer: MARIANA LULE from MORELIA, MICHOACAN
YA HEMOS IDO ALGUNAS VECES ANTERIORMENTE Y NOS GUSTA EL SABOR PERO AHORA ESTAMOS MAS ANIMADOS A SEGUIR YENDO YA QUE TIENEN AL SENOR ANGEL QUE ES UNA PERSONA QUE TIENE MUCHA EXPERIENCIA EN ESTE TIPO DE COMIDA Y SU SABOR QUE LE DA AL SUSHI Y A LOS DEMAS PLATILLOS ES INCONFUNDIBLE GRACIAS POR SERVIRNOS.

DANK SUSHI YAAAAA
Reviewer: Jacquie from Goleta, CA
This sushi was so phat I got lost in its rolls. This sushi was the best fish I have ever eaten, even better then my girlfriends. um i dont know.

Cheap, but sometimes inconsistent
Reviewer: Peter from Isla Vista
Sushi is pretty good. People mainly go to Sushiya because it is cheap which is nice, but sometimes the rolls are sloppy like the previous review and are falling apart....this isn't every time but many times. Me and a friend sometimes just go to Somethings Fishy on State Street...Its half off on Sunday through Thursday and they are extremely gracious on servings making big rolls and sashimi has large pieces

I never new McDonalds had a sushi chain.
Reviewer: Chris from Isla Vista, CA
I ignored this place for two years because I thought it looked too commercial to produce decent sushi, but after hearing good things about it and seeing its ranking of "Best Sushi in I.V." in the UCSB Daily Nexus, I decided to check it out. Wow, was I right for avoiding it. The rice can't even be considered sticky rice, its very solid which thwarts any and all efforts to keep the rolls intact. The sushimi was also bland. The food in general was just not up to par. If you're in I.V. and find yourself craving sushi, do yourself a favor and either visit cali roll or make the trip downtown to a better place, this one just will not do.

SLOPPY!
Reviewer: sarah from IV
whenever I get thier rolls to go, they are always sloppy and falling apart....they taste ok though, just hard to eat.

if it weren't for the tasty food...
Reviewer: Amanda from Isla Vista
The food is always awesome, gets better and better since they opened. BUT it takes soooooo long for everything and every time I go I tell myself that if the food wasn't so good I wouldn't go back. I swear I've waited like 20 minutes for a spicy chicken meal before. Anyway, I suggest calling in your order and leaving to get it like 15-20 mins later. And make sure they don't leave out your rice. And the spicy chicken and crunch rolls are the awesome.

Good, fast sushi!
Reviewer: Karen from Santa Barbara, CA
I like the rolls at sushiya...the spicy tuna is SPICY...I love it! The service is typical counter service...no one goes out of their way. The sushi is fresh and a good price. If you are in I.V. and crave sushi, then here ya go!

Good cheap sushi
Reviewer: kaylie from Santa Barbara, CA
This is definately not the best sushi place in town, but for the price it's quite good. The raw fish is unremarkable here, so I usually stick to non-raw sushi, which are quite satisfactory. So if you're on a budget and feel like sushi this is the place to go!

great food, terrible service
Reviewer: Christina from Isla Vista, CA
I order sushi from here all the time because it is some of the best sushi I have found in the area for a reasonable price, but the service is terrible. I usually order my food to be picked up and they almost always mess up my order and give me the wrong roll or forget to put something in or on it. last time I called, I ordered an IV roll and they gave me a UCSB roll instead. When I called back instead of apologizing and offering to correct the mistake, the girl on the phone tried to convince me to just keep the wrong order that they gave me because they were the same price! I had to complain to get them to re-make me sushi roll. I've worked at restaurants and that is not how a successful one does business. They're lucky their sushi is so good, otherwise I wouldn't go back!
