ok -- corp. should do more May 2016, 5/11/2016

In the past year there has been a significant effort to up-grade the store appearance and quality. The Meat department still is on the iffy' side. Produce has gone from bad to a high C+. Variety is always an issue because of the limited space. The Delli has improved with the help there friendly. Over all I would give it a B- and tell Corporate to stop using it as a training store and start keeping the better employees. The Downtown store has become a terrible place to shop because of narrow parking stalls and the homeless issue that is a problem all over downtown Santa Barbara.

disgusting old ground meat, 5/27/2015

they hide old brown meat by wrapping it with fresh outer layer. This has been going on for years. This time it smelled so bad I just threw out 2 lbs of ground sirloin. If this isn't illegal it should be.

Ok place to go in a pinch

I'm not really sure of all the choices in that particular De La Vina area for residents, there are not many, Trader Joes and Gelsons are close by but are more "high end" places. Its nothing really special with cramped aisles and such. Sandwich Deli was pretty good but they need more people behind the counter. Small amount of parking. Selections limited but all in all an Ok place to go for the local neighborhood.

Poor Management

I've shopped here for about 6 months now. It never appears that many of the employees, or management for that matter enjoy working here. At other markets (i.e. Vons), the employees smile, speak kindly to one another and seem to enjoy their jobs. I don't blame the employees. It's management's job to make a happy working environment. Perhaps the corporation needs to send management to some type of training to help them become more effective in their jobs.

Very dirty should be reported to the health dept

This Ralphs is one of the dirties markets in Santa barbara or maybe anywhere. They renovated a few years ago but the lack of good management is scary. I have seen employees pick up tomatoes from the floor and toss them back in the bin for sale. I find bits of paper and straw in the salad. I have bought moldy cheese there too many times to mention. Now I rarely shop there even though it is close to me. I hope someone at the ralphs company will step in and save this place.
