Not Open For Business 24 Hours
Reviewer: Penny from Santa Barbara, CA
There's no need to rate the food if you can't get it. Many previous reviewers have complained about the bad service, but if you go in the wee hours of the morning (as my shift partner and I used to do), you won't even get that. This never used to happen, but starting some time around November they began to claim they have to shut down to reset the system for the day, which means you get to twiddle your thumbs for anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes waiting for them to do whatever it is they do. There's no point to being a 24 hour restaurant if you can't stay open for business 24 hours a day. Complaints to corporate have fallen on deaf ears.

New setup
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Interesting that they now have the outside remote order taker person ala In N Out at lunchtime, I got out of there amazingly fast today.

really?
Reviewer: Schmidt from Santa Barbara, CA
Dude, it's the manager's duty to not accept currency that their machine thinks is fake even if it is real. Now you're going to waste your time and their food on going around in circles ordering 40 tacos at a time. Guess, what, the joke is on you and they'll recognize your car and voice and every time you get to the window they'll flag you by without making your food. Welcome to being the first person to ever get 86'd from Jack in the Box drive through. lol. Go to the bank, get the bill checked at the bank and stop acting like a tool. Plus, it's Jack in the Box, who cares???

Management wouldn't accept my 100
Reviewer: Gary Hardy from Santa Barbara, CA
I went through the drive thru last night with a 100 bill I got from the bank earlier that day. When I handed it to them they ran it through a machine that didn't accept it and so the manager looked me in the eyes and told me it may be counterfeit. I told him to get bent before getting back in the drive thru line and ordering an unneccessarily large order only to be refused again because of my fake money. I live fairly close and have decided to keep this 100 bill just so I could continue to **** with them by ordering large amounts of food and giving them my "counterfeit" 100 dollar bill and having them tell me they can't take it. Maybe one day they'll have management intelligent enough to run one of those black marker bill checkers that every bar in America has. Tthat'll be the day my roommates get hooked up with 40 99 cent tacos!!!

NO more Ranch!?!?
Reviewer: Anna from Santa Barbara, CA
I have given this place plenty of opportunities because it's convenient to where I live, despite of all the times they have gotten my order wrong, I keep coming back but today it was really annoying that since there is a new Manager!?!?, they are no longer giving out ranch if you ask for it and their not even willing to sell it. This doesn't sound that it came from corporate because they can't sell it individually. From now on I rather go to elsewhere!

Demoted From "On Notice" to "Dead To Me"
Reviewer: Stacy from Santa Barbara, CA
Today I went through the Jack In The Box drive through. When they are somewhat busy, they ask people to pull forward while they finish the order. This creates a problem because they finish the order for the person in back of you and then there is no room for the other person to pass by you. Today, we had the unfortunate experience of having 2 inappropriate acting college kids honk and yell obscenities at us (with my 2.5 year old in the car.) We finally had to go park in the parking lot adjacent to the area and wait for our food, all the while being heckled by these 2 rocket scientists. This isn't the first time I have had the awkward "pull forward" thing happen to me and it never works well. Maybe they should tell people to go park in the parking lot instead. I won't be going back anytime soon; just as well. I really only go there for the shakes anyway and Kahuna Grill makes them 10X better.

Worst jack in the box known to man
Reviewer: Carl from Santa Barbara, CA
I'll just compare this to the Jack in the Box I used to live by in Orange County. The one in Orange County: *Polite and cheerful cashiers. They would always make sure they smiled and said hello when you drove up. *Orders were ALWAYS correct for me. My girlfriend is very picky, but they never messed up once. *Food was always top notch and looked great. The one in Goleta: *cashiers seem like they hate you and their job. *I always ask for no mayo, and 3 times my burger has come with mayo. *Food looks very unappealing. Stereotypical fast food look =(

Service has gone down lately
Reviewer: Noel T. from Santa Barbara, CA
I've been eating at this location for about five years now (I know I know, fast food isn't good for you). Lately the drive-thru employees have really knocked the service down a lot. They are rude, don't look you in the eye, don't say hello, speak in Spanish to one another right in front of you, joke it up, talk about previous customers, etc. The last three times I've gone, they've gotten my order wrong, but not including the last item I've ordered or not asking me what size combo I'd like so I end up with some gigantic drink that doesn't even fit in my cup holder. Even the speed of service is significantly slower in the past few months. Its the new batch of employees that they have hired that are really bringing the place down. Sadly, I'll keep going there for convenience but the service is terrible.

Service Better
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
From what I can see(someone correct me if I'm wrong) but they no longer make people pull up in line so their sensor is happy which is a big plus. I am pissed they got rid of the monster taco. Say it is not so Jack! Their Asian bowls are really nice and you get it quick(and healthier than most stuff there!). Nicer people there the last few times I've been also.

Good Fast Food Not Best Service
Reviewer: GlennG from Buellton, Ca
They try to be as fast as they can, unfortunately the language differences for us gringos can be bad. I'd like to talk to the manager about the terrible practice making people park ahead of the teller window to get your food. They do this to fake the sensor out that measures how fast they get the food through to cuostomers in line(either for the manager's kudos or the corporation). They do this even when there is no one at the ordering speaker. Unfortunately they make you park in a small dangerous section of the driveway, blocking people behind and not letting people from Hollister come into the parking lot. I usually just refuse to pull up when they are telling people to do this and get disgruntled looks for employees(whatever). Not sure if he purposely did not add salad forks because of that when I got back to work today. Good food and I will continue to eat there as I work next door but I wish some things could be changed if possible, I may go elsewhere just from the BS if not.

Bad service!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reviewer: Robertcig from goleta
Well let say if you have only 30 minutes of lunch if you end up in this location your order you'll be wrong. you have to wait and this is if you go on drive in. you'll be waiting for your food more time like if you when inside.people is always mad----( can you wait over there in the parkin lot of k-mart ) they charge for ketchup and other supplement that you want.

It's a Jack In the Box
Reviewer: Reed from santa barbara, ca
What do you want me to say? It's a Jack In the Box. The food, in my opinion, is some of the worst, even among the big drive-thru giants (Wendy's, McDonald's, Carl's Jr., etc.) However, it IS open 24-hours, has a 99 cent menu, and therein lies the attraction. This particular location has the disadvantage, that being said, of being on the edge of a college town. Between the hours of 9 pm and 6 am, this place almost ALWAYS has a huge line in the drive-thru. I have consistently spent upwards of 15 minutes in line. I recommend going to the McDonald's on Fairview and Hollister instead, which is also open 24-hours and tends to have a shorter line most of the time.
