The Green Papaya Salad is wonderful, 9/6/2009
Reviewer: Ondine from Santa Barbara, CA
I loved the menu with photos (it made explaining lunch to a six year old very easy) and the large vegetarian selection. I had the huge green papaya salad with tofu and my companion had the crispy noodles with greens and tofu and a very good traditional lemonade (not from a mix!.) I must say I enjoyed both meals! Service was fast and not intrusive. Our server did disappear after he brought our meal. I went to the counter for a drink refill and the young woman did seem genuinely apologetic and even apologized again when she brought the bill. I am looking forward to trying the other Saigon In and Out on Upper State when it opens.

Some of the best food in Santa Barbara, 8/17/2009
Reviewer: Kim from Santa Barbara, CA
The food here is consistantly amazing. Not only is this the best Viatnamese restaurant in SB, but also some of the best food in general. Always casual, it's a great place to eat in or take out. The staff is always friendly and the service is always fast, especially the take out which usually takes 5 minutes. Overall, this place is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.

Epic food, poor service but it kinda makes the place special, 5/12/2009
Reviewer: Eric Greenspan from Santa Barbara, CA
I love this place. Our family eats here 2 times a week. The service is funny in that they are kinda clueless, but it works. It kinda adds to the ambiance. I can't get enough and I hear two new ones are coming: 5 Points and Haley. I can have my #34a 4x a day!

Real pho has beef parts in it, 4/22/2009
Reviewer: Annie from Santa Barbara, CA
When I called to order take out without looking at a menu, I asked for their regular pho bowl with the works: rare beef, cooked beef, beef tendon, beef tripe...they informed me they don't have tendon or tripe. I was immediately skeptical. What kind of pho place doesn't even have tendon or tripe anywhere in the restaurant? Not a real pho place! I was skeptical but gave it a try. I was right, the pho was ok but it didn't really taste like pho. It tasted pretty bland, mediocre at best, like it was just some beef stock. So it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't pho soup.

Consistanly Wonderful!, 3/26/2009

I have been eating at the Milpas location since they opened. Not only are the staff always friendly and helpful but the food is consistently good.

Consistently Yummy!, 2/14/2009

I have never had a bad meal at Saigon. The food always tastes fresh and is prepared well. Sometimes the service can be little on the slow side, but always very polite and friendly. I love Saigon and often visit both locations,

Not to denigrate someone's opinion, but..., 2/14/2009
Reviewer: Josh from Santa Barbara, CA
Not to denigrate someone's opinion, but the review below by "Chris" from here in SB has me rather surprised... The food has been consistently good every visit (although, granted, I usually try things other than the Pho) and I've never had problems with their service... The lack of detail on the review mentioned previously as well as the rock-bottom review scores leave me mystified as to what restaurant the reviewer actually ate at. That said, I'll be going by in the next few days to make sure their food and service hasn't dramatically declined since my last meal here about two weeks ago.

This is not real Vietnamese food, 2/13/2009
Reviewer: Chris from Santa Barbara, CA
If you've ever eaten authentic Vietnamese food, you'll understand why this place is terrible. Their food barely holds me over until I have time to go to another city and have a real bowl of Pho. Pho should have a deeply flavored, clean broth. Their broth has no flavor to it. Tastes pretty much like they opened up a few cans of broth from the store. I would highly recommend going elsewhere if you want quality Vietnamese food.

Beef curry rocks, 2/9/2009

excellent...beef curry with rice noodles..

Possibly the best Pho and Vietnamese restaurant in town., 12/29/2008
Reviewer: john from Santa Barbara, CA
Saigon In & Out (Milpas location) is probably the best Pho/Vietnamese restaurant in town. Small, simple and quaint. The service is good and the food is very clean and very good. I've eaten at all the Pho places in town and Saigon In & Out will get my vote AGAIN for SB Best Pho in Town (Santa Barbara). I get the #23 Pho which has meat in it and an order of spring rolls (comes along with a great sauce too). Saigon In & Out doesn't use intestines, cartilage or tendons in their Pho. It is real broth, clean pieces of meat and fresh vegetables with everything. Hands down best place for Pho in town. I just learned they have a restaurant opened on State Street now, whic is probably just as good if they kept the ingredients and methods the same as the original location.

Excellent Vietnamese Food on the South Coast, 12/24/2008
Reviewer: Laura Kranzler from Santa Barbara, CA
My husband & I love Saigon In & Out, especially on rainy days. We ususally order the Veggie Egg Rolls, Chicken Pho #26, & Chicken Curry w/Rice Noodle #30 - all are super tasty. The food is always fresh & hot. The service is always consistent. The servers are polite & efficient without being obtrusive. The food is authentic & just as good as Little Saigon in Orange County. If you love Vietnamese food you will not be disappointed.

Best Pho in town, prompt service!, 11/25/2008
Reviewer: Susannah from Carpinteria, CA
My boyfriend recently introduced me to Saigon and I've been back 4 times in the last 10 days! We usually order to go, but the second we walk in someone rushes out to see us. They are so friendly. We have ordered the Pho (noodle soup) every time, changing the ingredients each time. It is sooo delicious! It only takes a few minutes for them to bring it out and we're on our way. I'll keep coming back!

Good foods, great services, 11/24/2008

This place has great foods, and good services. You should try it.

Great food, great price!
Reviewer: Eric from Montecito, CA
I have never had Vietnamese before this visit and all I can say is I'm a huge fan now. Living in SB for 22 years, you get tired of the same old thing over and over and over. Fresh, tasty, healthy, quality...this place has it all. If you haven't tried Saigon, consider it the next time you are heading to "our" favorite Thai restaurant. Its a nice change. Of course, you will crave Thai too, so make sure to do one on Sunday night and the other during the week.

FRESH and DELICIOUS!!!
Reviewer: JS from Santa Barbara, CA
I tried Saigon last night and I was surprised at how fresh the ingredients tasted!! The Spring rolls and Chicken Curry are incredible. Service was consistant and non-intrusive. I definitly will be back.

Good Pho's
Reviewer: Holmes, John from Santa Barbara, Ca
I tried this place based on the reviews. It was delicious! I've returned more than once now. Service is pretty good also. Try the spring rolls with the peanut sauce. The golden egg rolls come with fresh veggies. Only complaint i have is the tiny parking located in the rear of the restaurant. They've earned my business!

Tasty, Healthy, Cheap, Cute - What More Could You Want?
Reviewer: Aimee from Goleta, CA
This restaurant serves the best Vietnamese food I've ever tasted. In fact, I think Saigon In and Out may be my favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara - and all at such a steal! The worst part about dining here is trying to decide what to order, because everything is top-notch. I usually get the vegetarian egg rolls and either the curry noodles with chicken or the shrimp pho. (My vegetarian friends also love this place because there are so many veg-friendly menu options.) Try the iced Vietnamese coffee - it's delicious. The servers are friendly, cheerful, and accommodating. Can't wait to try the new State St. location!

save my table!
Reviewer: Lyn from Santa Barbara, CA
Since I discovered Saigon approx 1 1/2 months ago, I have: (a)lost 10 lbs, (b)enjoyed their wonderful, flavorful, aromatic, food a min of 2 times a week, (c) addicted many many of my friends. Every dish I've sampled has been amazing, the prices are extremely reasonable, the food has always been the perfect temp, the wait staff have always served me in record time, and I've never lacked for a thing at my table. If this place delivered, I'd happily eat nothing else.

What a little gem.
Reviewer: Michael from Dallas, Texas
Wow! This place is a real "sleeper". Unbelievably big portions of the most delicious Vietnamese food ever at unbelievably low prices. I live in Dallas where there is a very large Vietnamese community. I can tell you this, the food at "Saigon In and Out" is superior to any of the Vietnamese restaurants in my home area. Lucky for me, my girlfriend lives in the neighborhood.

AWESOME!
Reviewer: Francesca from Santa Barbara, CA
I don't know what I ordered, but it was DELICIOUS!!! Everything was very fresh and flavorful. Service was efficient and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

One of the best restaurants in Santa Barbara
Reviewer: Julie Romero from Santa Barbara
Saigon In and Out is at the top of the ten top restaurants in Santa Barbara. I went with a friend to "Saigon" for her birthday, and since then I've taken everyone and their grandmother to this restaurant.

Yummy, cheap, healthy and light meals.
Reviewer: Melisssa from Santa Barbara, CA
I just found this little place over on Milpas recently and LOVE IT! The food is authentic, delicious, cheap and healthy. The atmosphere is fun, simple (but the air conditioning always seems to be on low). I like the pho, but LOVE the vermicelli bowls with the chopped egg rolls over noodles, citrus/spicy sauce and vegetables. Can't wait to go back!!

Best Pho
Reviewer: Laura Lewis from Santa Barbara, CA
We go to this Vietnamese restaurant all the time. Having a Vietnamese mother and large family...it makes it easy to judge this type of food, but believe me, this is some of the best pho - best broth we've ever tried. Highly recommended.
