I had their Pastrami sandwich on a sourdough bread yesterday, the pastrami was way too salty and the bread was a very old white bread.My coworker had a sandwich on a roll, the roll looked like breadstick.I'm not a regular customer at Norton's, last time I tried their sandwich was probably a year ago and it was way better.


Grilled Turkey Club - YUM!

I just had the grilled turkey club. extra pickles on wheat roll (instead of sliced sourdough). Wow, that was so good, I'm disappointed that I only ordered 1/2 a sandwich!


Once great pastrami sandwich now a waste of time and money.

Sad to see something that was a delight turned into meh...not even so so. Way, way too much fat. I had to pick thru the fat and meat...by the time I was ready to eat I had half of what I started with...sad face :(

My first visit, I was so excited. My corned beef classic was very generous in size but the meat was so tough and very hard to chew. Not at all what I expected.

Had the Norton's Grilled Chicken sandwich today. (chicken breast, jack cheese, bacon, avocado, chipotle mayo). I love that the chicken is made on the flat top. So yummy! I hadn't even been to Norton's before despite the fact that I'm a local. Now I know to go back because it was delicious!


New Milpas Local...

I have been eating Norton's off and on for years...and yes the previous owner could be best described as "Charm Free". Now I don't find that to be the case. The new location on Milpas is a still barely known location at the Batting cages. But the food is great...Even the Nortons Tuna is wonderful. The Staff (The younger employees seem genuinely proud of thier work.) The owner seems less hands on than I would expect in such a small establishment, but the young man who cover the register on occassion seems to be the reason it is all moving so well, he is in my opinion the back bone to the Milpas Store's innevitable success. Keep up the good work.


Good Food, probably not the best for your body though!

Had the PLT which is the fried pastrami like bacon sandwich. Pretty tasty, only problem is the bread is too small for the sandwich but the meat made up for it. The owner could have been friendlier but was Ok. I think a good place to get your pastrami fix but probably not a place you want to eat at everyday if you want to keep to any kind of cholesterol count! Neat insides and enough seating esp compared to dinky Gino's next door.


SANTA barbara needs a real deli

Went to Nortons acouple weeks ago and was terribly disappointed by the quality of their pastrami. I have to agree with the previous review, it was very salty and had a taste like bacon(almost inedible). In no way does this place compare to the delis in L. A.,N. Y. or other places where I've eaten pastrami. I don't think the people in S. B. have a clue as to what pastrami is or what it is supposed to taste like.

If you like salt and Bacon you will love their Pastrami sandwich. It was so salty, and so fat, and on the crisp side -we could hardly see the meat, which was not the steamed lean slices of pastrami you see at Jerry's or Nate "n Als in Los Angeles. seriously we took one or two bites and that was it. and the bread....wheat bread....how about RYE???


nice quick service uncooked food

I went there and got a to go order for lunch. When I got to work, the meat was still bloody rare and the bread was soaked with red. I don't think the meat went on the grill at all. I tried to warm it up in the microwave and just got more juicy and soggy so, ended up trashing it. The service was nice and quick, perhaps more time cooking and a little less quick to get me out the door with a to go order please.

Tried this place yesterday after all the reading all the reviews raving about the pastrami. Sorry, but this is not up to the better NY delis or the good West Coast ones (Langers). It is a good diner sandwich and the service was good. I'm still waiting to find a deli here where they MAKE their own pastrami and hand carve it.


Great Food in Small Places

This is probably the best restaurant in Santa Barbara per square foot (not including the Burger Bus). As the name suggests, Nortons Pastrami is all about one thing: itís Pastrami sandwiches. Basically, you can eat these two different ways: Pastami Dip (on a roll and dipped in au-jus) or Pastrami Classic (on Rye bread). Quite frankly, they have a list of other food that you can eat (ham, hotdogs, tuna, etc), but I always try to buy what is in the name of the store. I went with the Pastrami Classic and was jazzed with the sandwich that I received. Best pastrami I have had outside of Katz New York City and Carnegie Deli at the Mirage, Vegas. Order this sandwich, slather on the mustard, grab a pickle, and prepare to be wowed. If only this place had a bar and more seating....
