QUESTION OF THE DAY

If you can help reader Amy please leave a message in the blog.

Hello,

I’m looking for a nice venue/restaurant for a private dinner party of 50 for end of May. I want it to be intimate, nice not fancy but a great venue with good food, wine and atmosphere.

Sincerely,
Amy

Arts and Letters Cafe is a great venue for large private dinner parties. Great ambiance. Great service. Great food. Full cocktail service.

Just put on a great party for 48 people at Le Cafe Stella — they gave us a wonderful buffet dinner for $30 per person. It included salad, two main course choices, two side dishes and a dessert. We had a no-host bar and their prices were very reasonable. Their closed off, private dining room was lovely. You can even see some photos here: http://www.edhat.com/site/tidbit.cfm?nid=128432

I’ve got to second Arts & Letters Cafe. It’s maybe a tad pricey, but you get gourmet food that would cost lots more at just about any upscale SB restaurant. The servers and staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful and the ambience is…I hate to use the word, since it’s overworked, but it’s the only word that applies…charming.

Check out Blush Restaurant and Lounge (blushsb.com), Large Patio, accommodating, great wine list, very intimate.

The glassed in patio at Holdren’s Grill is perfect for that size group…heaters if you need them. They can do a banquet menu with 3 or more choices and the price is affordable. Good wine list, and good food. We had a rehearsal dinner on the patio and it was perfect.

Petrinis in Goleta has a great side room and good food.

    Wine Cask. You’re welcome.

Check out the Santa Barbara Club. The food is excellent and the setting is great. Much more interesting than cramming into a restaurant. They have a nice garden as well as a couple of indoor rooms of different sizes.

Relais de Paris would be perfect. Great decor and ambiance, delicious food. Or the outdoor seating at Zaytoon. It is absolutely GORGEOUS at night w/ all the twinkly lights and fire pits.

the garden room at the los olivos wine merchant & cafe is a great setting.

The Lark has a beautiful private dining room behind the kitchen where they also do wine and cooking classes. Since they’re food is “family style” this could be a fun place to have a party, especially with the Funk Zone to wander into if you want to move the party elsewhere!
