This just in from Silvergreens restaurant (791 Chapala Street, 900 Embarcadero Del Mar, Isla Vista):

Good morning John,

I wanted to reach out to you and share with you some new changes we made to our menu at Silvergreens!

Both our Breakfast and Lunch & Dinner menus now feature several new menu items. We are excited to introduce our new Pepper Jack Steak breakfast burrito along with our new pancake breakfast option. Our Pancake entrée comes with three buttermilk pancakes topped with a delicious mixed berry sauce, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

Our guests are already raving about the new items on our lunch & dinner menu. Our new Dynamite Burger is a hit, fire grilled 100% natural beef patty topped with crunchy green fries, tomato, lettuce, and Sriracha dynamite sauce on a toasted brioche bun.  We also added three new side menu items, Kale & Cranberry Salad, Pesto Caprese Couscous, and Edamame Quinoa.

In addition to new items added to our menu, we also brought back some favorites to our menu, El Capitan Salad, Crunchy Green Fries, and our Chicken Alfredo. We are thrilled to announce the return of these old favorites to our menu!

Also starting this month, we will now open our doors at 7:30am every day!

Bleh, I am really bummed that they got rid of so many items I used to love in college. Gone are the: Grilled shrimp and avocado salad, the *regular* size burgers (not a fan of the fun size burgers), Thanksgiving turkey sandwich, that sandwich that used to have chicken, cheese, and sauce (I forget the name)…

I see that the combo’s now let you get a drink with it, and that the chicken tortilla soup is offered every day now (I think they started making it only on certain days for awhile).

We used to go here all the time, then they played with the menu and got rid of my wife’s most favorite items. We have gone back to give it a try out of loyalty and because they always treat us so well, (some of the best customer service in town), but the food’s gone downhill.

I’ll give them another shot after this latest retooling, but they’re running out of chances with us.

We’ve been fans (and regulars) of the Chapala St Silvergreen’s since they opened. They DO excel in customer service and I appreciate that they are trying new things. Love the veggie eggrolls, the fried green beans and the kale salad. I appreciate that they made a ton of improvements last year, like nicer outdoor tables and chairs, higher bushes to provide a buffer from the sidewalk, and they now bring your food to the table. (althou I never minded being buzzed to go pick it up). Keep up the good work, Silvergreens.

I haven’t gone back to Silvergreens since they got rid of my favorite sandwich: the thanksgiving turkey. :'(
