The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History invites guests to celebrate National Seafood Month at the 5th annual Sensational Seafood event on Thursday, October 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Ty Warner Sea Center on Stearns Wharf.
Sensational Seafood features local and sustainable seafood and the restaurants that go the extra mile to provide ocean-friendly menu options. Guests will sample delicious seafood and wine, learn about sustainable seafood, and support the mission of the Sea Center and the Sustainable Seafood program.
Participants in Sensational Seafood include: Arlington Tavern, Buttonwood Farm Winery, Cielito Conway Family Wines, Cutler’s Artisan Spirits, Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Market – Santa Barbara, Jaffurs Wine Cellars, Julienne, Mac’s Fish & Chip, Michael’s Catering, Montecito Wine Bistro, Ninkasi Brewing Company, Pierre LaFond Wine Bistro,
Santa Barbara FisHouse, Santa Barbara Fish Market, Santa Barbara Mariculture Company, Santa Barbara Sourdough, UCSB Residential Dining, Services Whitcraft Winery
Each food station will have information regarding the seafood being served and whether it is considered a “best choice” or a “good alternative” based on the Seafood Watch Guide by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Member restaurants of the Sustainable Seafood Program will also have blue tablecloths to highlight their commitment to serving 100% sustainable seafood, year-round, including Arlington Tavern, Julienne, Mac’s Fish & Chip Shop, Pierre LaFond Wine Bistro, Montecito Wine Bistro, UCSB Residential Dining Services.
Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in the “Every Fish Wins” raffle by donating $20 for a chance to fish for a guaranteed winning raffle ticket. Every ticket pulled wins a prize, such as a gift certificate to a local restaurant, a Museum Membership, or tickets to local attractions.
The mission of the Santa Barbara Sustainable Seafood Program is to educate restaurateurs, chefs, seafood purveyors, and consumers about the impact of their seafood choices on the health of the planet.
Tickets for Sensational Seafood are $60 for general admission, and $45 for Museum Members. Pre-registration is strongly recommended as this event has limited space. Tickets can be purchased at www.sbnature.org/tickets, and if available, sold at the door for $60. All guests must be 21 years or older to attend, and must have a valid picture ID.
Parking for this event will be off-site with free shuttle service running from the Palm Park lot to the Ty Warner Sea Center throughout the evening.
