This just in from Justin West, chef/owner of Julienne restaurant, 138 E. Canon Perdido Street:
This is Justin over at Julienne. I was writing to let you (and your readers) know that we are participating in the James Beard Local Dish Challenge going on until October 31, 2013. I have attached a press release for the details….
Basically it works like this: From now until October 31 we will be serving Bouillabaisse comprised of seafood from the Santa Barbara Channel. $1 from every Bouillabaisse sold will be donated to the James Beard Foundation for food education programs. The second part of this Local Dish Challenge is an Instagram competition to gather the most hash tags for our city. The winning restaurant (and city) will receive a $10,000 donation to a charity of their choosing (we have chosen the Food Bank of SBC as the benefactor).
We are the only participating restaurant in Santa Barbara and it is a national competition but I think with the right momentum we could win this for the Food Bank!
Diners come eat bouillabaisse, take a picture and post it to instagram tagged; #JBFTasteAmerica #SantaBarbara @JulienneSB.
Also, this James Beard contest just so happens to coincide with a benefit dinner we are holding to support the Food Bank on Monday Sept 30. It is a four course dinner for $60 per person with an optional wine pairing for an additional $25 per person. 100% of the food sales from this night are being donated to Food Bank of Santa Barbara County. We will have 40 seats available and are currently taking reservations. It is going to be a fun dinner for a great cause.
Any help you can offer on getting the word out about these two subjects is greatly appreciated.
