On July 14th, Bastille Day, bouchon restaurant at 9 W. Victoria Street celebrated 15 years in business. Speaking of anniversaries, The Restaurant Gal and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary on July 15th by having a terrific dinner at bouchon, after treating her to a “spa day” at Ojai Valley Inn (happy wife, happy life). I enjoyed the Maple-Glazed California Duck Breast & Confit of Thigh including succotash of sweet corn, fava beans, applewood-smoked bacon, Windrose Farms butternut squash and port-thyme demi-glace. My wife loved the Grilled Wagyu New York Steak including black truffle potato croquette, braised spinach, sautéed wild mushrooms, cippolini onions and sauce Bordelaise. Thank you to waiter Stephen Roederer for the outstanding service.
