Albertsons Market no longer requires patrons to use an Albertsons club card to receive special discounts. The reduced prices on selected items now happen automatically at the cash register and are available to everyone. As a frequent Albertsons customer The Restaurant Guy will immensely enjoy carrying one less thing in his wallet. Hopefully Vons and Ralphs follow suit.

Yeah, they’ve done that at all of their stores to my knowlledge. The near us has also gone to all Choice beef, no more Select.

I think the Albertson’s chain has been sold & that had something to do with eliminating the need for the card. I think they may be eliminating the store brand of products sometime, as well.

    Albertson’s has not been sold.

    This, from their web site:
Albertsons LLC was formed in 2006, when the assets of Albertsons, Inc. were sold to three separate companies. SUPERVALU, out of Minnesota, bought the majority of the stores, and the free-standing drug stores in the south were sold to CVS. Albertsons LLC acquired stores in Northern California, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, South Dakota, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Florida. In 2013, Albertsons LLC was able to bring all of the Albertsons stores back together again by purchasing the assets from SUPERVALU that they had acquired in 2006 from the former Albertson’s, Inc., bringing the company full-circle.

I’m not a fan of these club cards – they are annoying and
and another invasion of privacy. I’ll gladly switch my grocery
    shopping to Albertsons.
