SANTA BARBARA PUBLIC MARKET UPDATE

Last week I published a list of businesses coming to Santa Barbara Public Market at 34 W. Victoria Street (formerly Vons). I am now told that chef Jason Tuley of Anchor Woodfire Kitchen, 119 State Street will be opening 3 spots in the Market as well: a taqueria called La Ancla, a raw bar called Anacapa Seafood and a as-yet-to-be-named cheese and charcuterie shop.

    I was told the booth space is really really expensive at the Public Market. I don’t have any numbers but I am not surprised. I wonder how Tuley can afford to run Anchor and have three booths.

    Doesn’t he have restaurants in other cities? Maybe he has investors who are confident in his cooking abilities.

    Well- I also think it will be too expensive for my budget- but congratulations to Jason & his crew! Where exactly are the people they are hoping will shop there going to come from?
