Readers tell me that German eatery Hoffman’s Brats has opened at 801 State Street, the former home of Snack Shack and Rocks.

This place is AMAZING!!! It just opened for lunch (3/12), the beer selection is incredible and the dipping sauces for fries/brats are unheard of… totally go check it out. I heard this place is going to be a hit in SB and the management is great
Sounds encouraging. Is there a menu or any more detailed info about this place available online?
It sounds a lot like Wurstkuche in Venice. Which would be prima!!
Is this place owner by the same folks as Wurstkuche or some how affiliated with them? The menu is almost the same and they are actually using the same sausages it appears. Beer selection is no where near as extensive though.
Strange, so according to the manager this place has absolutely no connection to Wurstkuche. They have blatantly copied everything from the sausages down to the fonts on the menu. Odd. Anyways the sausages are executed pretty close to the quality you get at Wurskuche. The fries however were a big let down in comparison. They don’t have that great twice-fried crispness you get at Wurstkuche and the serving is not very generous. Also the beer selection is a far from what’s available down south. Anyways despite the oddness of such a blatant rip-off I’m glad we have a place like this open in SB now, just wish it was on the same level as what they sought out to replicate.
