Reader Karlene tells me that Chomp Burgers, Fries and Shakes has opened in Solvang at the corner of Mission and Alisal, where the mermaid fountain is, and in the former home of Manny’s Restaurant. She tells me that the eatery is owned by local residents.

Uggh pre-fab dry tasteless burger patties covered by superfluous toppings. Previously frozen rings and fries. What a bummer, wanted to like it.

Unfortunately I totally agree with you. I wanted to like and support a local business, but it was such a disappointment.
Maybe you two should give it another chance. We’ve been
there a half dozen times and really enjoyed it! The fish tacos are
my favorite. The Caprese salad is close second. I live that they
get fresh baked buns for the burgers!! I know they’ve already made
a few change since they opened last month. Great place for families
and kids!!
Appreciate your comment. Just to me if the place is called “Chomp, Burgers, Fries…” I would imagine that to be their forte. Now if it were called “Chomp, Tacos, Salads…”, then that would make more sense given what people seem to enjoy there.
