Hi, I have been trying to find info on a restaurant , half a block from State, that use to serve soup and bread at lunch for 5$. Do you know witch one may it be? Can’t find any info online…

I believe it might have been Roy’s. I think they had a special like that not long ago.

A few years ago Roy did soup & bread at lunchtime for $5. It was awesome, but he only did it briefly.

Years ago there was a little soup restaurant on Figueroa next to barber shop.
Yup it was Roy’s. $5.00 – what a deal it was.
Silvergreens offers homemade soup (16 ounce bowl) w/
homemade bread for $4.99 for a large or $3.79 for a small. They
offer a variety of 4 choices daily and they are good!
As others have said, it was Roy that served the bread and soup for $5, it was specifically a recession special and only ran for a season, I recall. Normally it’s not open for lunch.
I was at Fresco this morning and noticed a soup and bread on the specials board for $5. Looks like other places do something similar as well.
