THE FRENCH TABLE

Reader Tony tells me that a new restaurant named “The French Table” is coming to 129 E. Anapamu St., the former home of Elements.

Looks as thought they have several places in Manhattan Bch, Hermosa, Pasadena, Longbeach.. They are called Creme de La Crepe. http://www.cremedelacrepe.com It looks as though they have slightly different plans for SB, they call it a French Gastropub. We will see! Hope it is good. Nice space and location for a French Pub/Bistro.

Had lunch here today. Nicoise salad and croque monsieur were both excellent and reasonably priced. I’m a stickler for a good croque monsiuer and I think I’ve had every one in town. Seems like everybody wants to make something fancy out of it, when it’s really such a simple item as it is served in cafe’s in France. This was a simple, delicious sandwich, served with an excellent green salad and perfectly creamy potatoes au gratin. Wine list was good, but as is usual in this town, pricey (9-12 bones for by-the-glass). Great space, friendly people, good service. Beats Elements by miles, and I’ll actually return to The French Table.

Probably should’ve stuck this in the reviews John, but it doesn’t look like this place (or Le Relais de Paris for that matter) are entered yet.
