Hi John…hope that you’re having a nice vacation. Someone has to do your job while you’re away so thought I’d let you know of a new taco place in town. Opened Saturday it’s Tacos Alatamiranos / The Hidden Dolphin, and I think it might last as it is run by the family that owns Altamiranos. Not in the best area but neither is Lily’s. It’s in the middle of the 200 block of Anacapa across from Ayers. The Matriarch was in the kitchen, the tacos were great and only $1.75 each. Great selection of meats and the salsas were very good. Then she gave me a taco de tripa to try…and wow – EXCELLENT.

sounds like a hidden gem.. so.. is that above or below the freeway? near rei or near the funk zone?
If they are in the same spot as they were last time around (3-4 years ago?), it’s on Anacapa below the freeway. Quite a hidden location, will need to get a good word of mouth following. It was really good in it’s previous rendition, but never caught on. Well done, simple Mexican fare, home-cooked style. I was a big fan. Don’t think that Altimarano folks were involved with it back then, but I certainly could be wrong. Good to hear they’re back.
