Reader Laura tells me that C’est Cheese at 825 Santa Barbara St. will be expanding into a neighboring business, Thrasher Books, by October 1st.

Thrasher Books is the neighbor that will close to accommodate the expansion. http://www.noozhawk.com/article/050712_thrasher_books_to_close_santa_barbara/
Thanks Alex for the link. The statement by the leasing company was awkward to say the least. Sounds like the owner took the high road though. Wish her well.
It’s for sure a bummer for Thrasher’s, but on the flip side, it’s terrific for C’est Cheese, which is an outstanding niche grocery/deli. Always been a big fan.
Leasing company is kicking Our Daily Bread out of it’s space as well. They’re located on the other side of C’est Cheese. That bakery is a Santa Barbara institution and have been in that location for over 30 years.
Apparently, the noise made by the night shift bakers has upset the new onsite apartment manager in the apartments behind the bakery. Ya know, the same noise they’ve been making for 30 years!
It’s reminds me of a guy who rents an apartment next to the airport and then complains about the noise!
Hey Apt Manager? Did you notice the bakery when you moved in? Now a business is ruined, but at least you can watch your TV reruns all day in peace, right?
If that information is true then it indeed blows mightily.
I’m curious to find out more about that Milo.
I heard this is true. I am also sad to see Our Daily Bread go, it is a SB Institution…
There’s plenty of room out in Goleta! My favorite bread in this city, move on out here.
In the Baja Fresh location? That would work.
It would be ideal! And they can make all the noise they want! That would be too good to be true! I’ve only had their bread, do they do cakes and pies etc.? We don’t have a decent bakery out here either.
