I have heard from a few sources that the recently closed Sweet Alley in Camino Real Marketplace will likely become a Jersey Mike’s sub sandwich shop.

YEAH! I used to live there (in Joisey) and Jersey Mike’s makes great East Coast style hoagies. Thanks for the great news!
It’s more like West Coast Subway….was not impressed at all! It’s just another chain one notch above Subway actually.
West coast Subway? It started in NJ. When I was growing up we used to go there all the time. It was excellent then, when they had just a few shops around central Jersey, and it’s excellent now despite having grown a lot.
Nothing seems to please you, Charlotte. Remember when Subway used to cut the meat/cheese in front of you? They still do that at Jersey Mike’s. Pretty sure they still cut their own vegetables, too.
Not all sandwich shops can be Plaza Deli, but at least you can use a credit card at Jersey Mike’s.
Oh I agree. They have a Jersey Mikes in Ojai and it’s your typical chain-like sandwich. Can’t even say it’s a notch above Subway.
I’m dancing, yes, I’m dancing…..I L O V E Jersey Mike’s….cannot wait….please Santa, say it’s true!! No. 7, Mike’s way please….Y U M, Y U M!!!!!!!
Jersey Mike’s is more than a notch above Subway. They make sandwiches the way Subway used to do back in the 70′s and 80′s. I like chains, especially quality chains like Jersey Mike’s.
Hopefully the store will smell better than a Subway. The smell of a Subway store is one of the most vile in the world, you’d think baking bread would smell good, but somehow they make it smell completely putrid. Bleh
No kidding. What is the science behind that awful stench? As far as Jersey Mike’s, whether it’s a notch above Subway or not, it’s still a chain, and there are plenty of high-quality non-franchised deli options in SB.
Quality deli options? Name them please. You can’t find a decent corned beef in this backwater town.
Try the Rueben Sandwich Special at the GOODLAND MARKET in Old Town Goleta. We corn/cure our own Niman Ranch Beef, ferment our own Sauerkraut using Tom Shepherd’s cabbage, use outstanding bread from Stoneground. Our New York friends say its a pretty good sandwich. It only comes around every 2 weeks or so when the beef is ready so check the facebook…..
Gotta agree. Norton’s, Three Pickles,…… You can’t get good corned beef or pastrami in this town. As to Goodlnad. Sorry but I want more than a six inch slider when I go out to eat.
I LOVE 3 pickles pastrami
Agree 3 pickles is the best I’ve had in town.
Metropulos, Three Pickles, Panino, Los Tarascos are all excellent.
I’m not a corned beef fan so I can’t help you there, but I’m pretty sure Jersey Mike’s isn’t going to fill the void.
Corned beef, of course, is required in any Jewish deli. Jersey Mike’s is more of an Italian-style deli so I don’t think they do corned beef. You’ll have to go to LA, sorry.
You could’nt beat the Rubens at The European Deli….of course, they closed down! The best homemade German potato salad and sandwich with quality Shalhoob meats and cheeses. That’s the difference between crappy chain sandwich shops mom & pop places vs. chains ( including Jersey Mike’s) they do slice the cheap tasting meat in front of you, so what! It’s still that pressed and formed Frankenstein deli meat, who cares!
