HOBNOB STILL OPEN

HobNob Tavern is still open for business. HobNob’s phone number in the phone book and on their web site is disconnected. The new number is 805.636.4232.

    Sorry to inform you that you are incorrect. We are open for business as usual. Unfortunately due to the poor electrical in our building that is being addressed, our phone lines were compromised during a recent inspection and we had to switch providers and were unable to keep our current phone number. We are not “closed: by any means. Thanks for the mispost or the follow up email.

    I agree with Paul. Whomever wrote that comment from “HobNob” should have thought a little more about what they just said…..especially because the post never mentioned that HobNob was closed. Looks like the mispost was actually from you – HobNob. Maybe they should say thanks for you mentioning their restaurant and making sure folks knew they were still open.

      There was a blog post about them closing but he took it down once he discovered the reason so they were pissed about that. The owners have been under some heat misguided or not lately from reviewers so they are also probably still sensitive toward this website about that too. But this was probably one of those mad e-mails people send where I think they wish they would have not hit the send button!

    It just goes to show it takes a few sets of skills to run a successful business. Just because you can cook doesn’t mean you know how to balance a checkbook or deal with PR. HobNob sounds like a bunch of IV kids who’d rather get into a fist fight with customers than correct an issue. Check out their reviews and their response here. The writing’s on the wall.

    I like the concept, the drinks, and the food at Hob Nob, but I’ve read a lot of negative reviews on the service and witnessed it first hand. I don’t know a lot about the owner so I won’t comment, but having dealt with restaurant owners in the past, David above hits the nail on the head. Having a great concept & menu are one thing, but running your business and dealing with people are an entirely different animal, especially in a town like this. A couple of bad mistakes and you are sunk in SB, word spreads too quickly and the town is too small. I’ll still go there for drinks & appetizers, but I’ve had enough bad service there to say that they’ve got one more chance with me.

    here it is mid-August and they still have the disconnected phone number on their website…
    I’ve been there twice in the past and enjoyed the food and ambiance…
    a group of 8 of us are hoping to go this Friday??? maybe??
