Sources tell me that the owners of La Entrada, the large, stalled construction project on State Street near the train station, closed escrow at 11am this morning with a wealthy Los Angeles developer.

    If that is true, then this truly a sad day in Santa Barbara’s history. The character and small town charm that has been slowly sacrificed to Big-Retail gods, will be finally lost beyond recall once they destroy the water front. I can’t believe they have gotten as far as they have. Sad indeed.

    Yeah because an empty lot where the homelss loiter and park their vans and motor homes is so much more appealing and has so much small town charm!
