In 1985, a fellow by the name of Rich Stackhouse created a nice little breakfast & burger place in the sleepy town of Summerland, CA just south of Santa Barbara.
What he didn't realize at the time was that his charming hideaway would become a huge hit with people up and down the state of California.
Bottom line: Stacky's serves great tasting food.
My personal favorite is the Tri-Tip Wrap, served with generous helpings of juicy, roasted tri-tip, lettuce, salsa, Jack cheese and Ranch dressing all in a large, hot flour tortilla.
In 1994 Stacky's was bought out by Chris Kelsey who has continued to grow and improve the restaurant ever since. After a few years however, Rich Stackhouse started to miss working at his popular namesake and he bought back in. So the Stack is back and now Chris and Rich are co-owners.
Sometimes just watching the clientele at Stacky's can be worth the visit. Because Stacky's is situated between the beach the nearby Santa Barbara Polo Club, it is not uncommon to see a shaggy surfer, surfboard in hand, standing in line next to an immaculate & proper Polo player coming off of a tournament. Add the usual celebrity or two from nearby Montecito and the picture becomes clear: Stacky's is happening.
Directions: If you are driving north on the 101 freeway, as you approach Summerland, exit at Evans Ave and it is immediately on your right. If you are heading south, take the Summerland exit (about 2 minutes south of Santa Barbara). You'll see Stacky's about a quarter mile down on the right.
