| Carpinteria
Avenue is one of the two main drags through Carpinteria. It is
the road in and out
of town.
Although it isn't as hip
as its cousin, Linden, all three stop lights in the city
are on Carpinteria Avenue. At least half of all the hotels in town are
on Carpinteria Avenue, as are the library, the pool, city
hall, the sheriff's office, the Thunderbowl, Tee Time
Golf, and
the post office.
It also has the
distinction of being the oldest street in town (a former
stage coach route), the former location of the Old Coast
Highway, and the first road in the county to have
been paved. Towards its western end (remember, we're
on a southern facing coast) is Old Town Carpinteria.
Directions:
Southbound. Take the 101 to the Carpinteria
Avenue exit. Voila.
Northbound: Take the Bailard Avenue exit. At the top
of the ramp turn left. At the stop sign turn right and
there you are.
