The train has long been important to Carpinteria.  The very first train that pulled into the city was greeted by a shower of flowers and a great big party.  The original train station was an enormous building.  As soon as the 101 was completed, however, it fell into disuse.

Recent years, however, have seen an upsurge in train use. The platform and station that you see now is still busy, especially during the summer months when for just a couple of bucks you can ride into Santa Barbara, be deposited a block or two from the beach, shopping and restaurants.  For summer visitors it's a great way to get around.

Directions: 

Southbound: Take the 101 to Linden Avenue. Turn right at the stop sign at the end of the ramp.  Follow Linden until you reach the train tracks. Turn right just before you reach the tracks.  The parking lot is immediately to your left.

Northbound:  Take the 101 to Casitas Pass.  At the top of the ramp turn left.  When Casita's pass ends on Carpinteria Avenue, turn right.  At the next light (Linden Avenue) turn left.  Follow Linden until you reach the train tracks. Turn right just before you reach the tracks.  The parking lot is immediately to your left.
