Lake
Los Carneros
Los
Carneros and Calle Real, Goleta
This wonderful park is a slice of rural charm just ten minutes out
of downtown Santa Barbara.
The
lake features a walking trail that is a favorite with folks trying
to get a beautiful walk in during lunch. There are many
office parks nearby, which make this a great mid-day get away.
One
of our favorite things about this park is the abundance of
life. There are almost always frogs croaking, birds flitting
around and even the rustle of something with four feet nearby.
One
way of getting to the park takes you through the Stow
House and Railroad Museum, which is a wonderful spot for children who might learn history the fun way.
Directions:
From the 101 exit on Los Carneros, which is about 10 miles west of
Santa Barbara. At the top of the ramp, turn towards the mountains.
If you continue past Calle Real, you will find the parking lot to
your right.
Facilities: Stow House, Southcoast Railroad Museum housed
in the restored rail depot, a 25-acre lake with walkways all
around it. Creature comforts are scarce with just chemical toilets
and small picnic areas. |
