Alameda
Park
1400
Santa Barbara Street
This
park is a center piece for many city-wide celebrations, such as
the Summer Solstice. It is ideal for many functions because
it occupies two blocks, has plenty of open space and has a
complete range of facilities. It even has a gazebo.
Alameda
is a wonderful family oriented picnic and playground spot that
hosts the 8,000 square foot Kids Zone playground. Even
though it is close to downtown and the Alice Keck Gardens, you can
usually find plenty of parking and a picnic table if you come
early.
Directions:
From the 101 take the Mission exit and turn towards the
mountains. Go through several sets of lights until you reach
Anacapa St. Turn right. Continue until you see the Alice Keck
gardens on your left. Alameda will follow. You can also take
Garden Street from the 101 and turn towards the mountains. Follow
it until you reach Alameda, which will be on your left.
Facilities Restrooms, playground, bandstand, several large
picnic areas, plenty wide open spaces for Frisbee.
