Santa Barbara

California Pizza Kitchen (962-4648) and Ruby’s (564-1941) are right across the corridor from each other in the Paseo Nuevo mall, which could create a bit of tussle when it comes to deciding where to go.  One has great pizza and the other great vintage décor and burgers.  How do you decide? Flip a coin?  Arm wrestle?

Cajun Kitchen901 Chapala Street, 965-1004 and 1924 De La Vina, 687-2062, are in SB - Great food and prices, crayons and coloring books and a laid back staff make this a great place to take kids.  On weekend mornings there’s always a wait so you might want to send an emissary ahead by 15 minutes to make sure you get a table, but it’s definitely worth it.

Longboard’s - 210 Stearns Wharf, 963-3311 - the surf theme is lots of fun.  They know how to make children actually feel welcome!

Beach Grill at Padaro - Kids of all ages love getting good and dirty in their huge sandbox chock full of toys, and there's lots of room for both kids and dogs to run off all that excess energy!

Moby Dick's - 220 Stearns Wharf, 965-0549  - At towards the end of the wharf, this restaurant has great views, good food and a children's menu

Palace Grill -8 East Cota Street, 963-5000 - has a children’s menu during the day.  If you’re looking for something more upscale and Cajun, this restaurant is already raucous and lots of fun, so the kids will fit in just fine.  They also have crayons.  The food is fabulous so there’s something here for everybody.

Something’s Fishy - 500 State St, 966-6607 - teppan yaki tables and cooking showmanship will delight older children.

Taffy’s Pizza - 2026 De La Vina, 687-3083 - has great pizza, a patio on warm nights, a game room, televisions and plenty of space make this an excellent family choice, especially if you have a range of ages in your family.

Goleta

Sizzler – 5555 Hollister Ave, 964-6769 - this Sizzler is blessed with an open patio in the center of which there is an incredibly large tree.

The Outback – 5690 Calle Real, 964-0599 - another raucous restaurant that is perfect for kids.  Afterwards, walk a couple doors down to Cold Stone’s ice cream. It’s a tradition in our family!

Woody’s BBQ– 5112 Hollister Ave, 967-3775 - BBQ, games, televisions and a sporty theme make it great for children – and bunches of children. The bathtub is great for washing hands, too!
