Best kept secret of the East Side of SB, 10/25/2009

What a little gem over on the East side of Santa Barbara. There is no other bar around this side of town. They have a great happy hour from 4-7 everday and 4-10 !! on Fridays.
Its a beautiful spot with incredible floors said to be Pecan. I think its one of the few restaurants and bars so close to the beach that you can see the ocean and beach (other than the wharf of course) The views are spectacular and the service is great. The prices for food are excellent, and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Bistro 1111 is top notche. We were greeted warmly at the desk and seated with an ocean view. Our server was friendly and efficient. Started with amazing crabcakes and martinis. My husband and I both enjoyed our steak and salmon dishes arriving hot and flavorfull. Topped off the evening with a delicious banana creme brulee and coffee. The Bistro has a warm and cozy feel with reasonably priced menu.

Treated Horribly By The Restaurant Manager & More!, 4/26/2009

We often use restaurant.com to guide us to new food experiences when we travel. We were staying at the Hotel Mar Monte for my husbands 40th birthday & decided to go to Bistro 1111. We walked in prior to dinner to look at the menu to hear the Rest. Mgr arguing with a waitress. We came back an hour later for dinner, stood in the doorway for 5 min before we were seated. The clam chowder had no flavor, the amuse bouche was severely over salted, the fries were good and the brownie was as well. We placed our GC & amex to pay and the flippant/rude Mgr came over to the table, threw the GC in front of us & said we don't take this. Once we were able to get a word in, we offered explanations & stated that if the GC is offered on a reputable website like restaurant.com that they should honor it. Mgr argued & said it was fraudulent. We asked to speak to hotel mgmt & he said he would call security. We said, WHAT? Turns out security is also hotel management at night. We walked out, as hotel guests WITHOUT the GC honored or being treated like GUESTS. I have never encountered a Mgr SO RUDE & dismissive to customers. We will NOT return to Bistro 1111 & do not recommend it to anyone. The hotel is up in the air until we speak to the GM in the morning. SO disappointed about this experience.

Stay Away Bad Food Bad Service, 11/27/2008

Just got back from Thanksgiving dinner at the restaraunt. Called twice to confirm that they could accomodate a Vegan eater (just like they said on their web site) No Vegan option, the waitress said she would find something and never brought anything (I don't think she spoke much english) so one of our party didn't get anything to eat--very humiliating. The table was missing two settings after 3 requests for cutlery we had to take our own from another table. 25 minutes to get our drink order. The potatoes and stuffing were from a box and the apple pie was still frozen.

Perfect Breakfast

This place is amazing! I came here for breakfast with my boyfriend, and it was the perfect way to start the day. The food was exceptionally good, and the service was outstanding. I ordered the Santa Barbara scramble which is eggs with monterey jack cheese, tomatoes, a side of salsa (which by the way, had a nice kick to it) hash browns on the side, an english muffin and ordered a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice. Everything was sooo good. My boyfriend chose to get the breakfast buffet, which also benifited me cause I ate off his plate. The buffet had so many options from eggs, bacon and sausage, to french toast and fresh fruit. The fruit was so sweet and yummy. Another plus to this restaurant is the ocean view!

WOW WHAT A RESTAURANT !

Our daughter had her wedding reception at the Hotel MarMonte a couple years ago and ever since then we have been returning for a visit every several months. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and room service are all excellent! Prices are reasonable. View of the beach and ocean is great! Staff members are all very friendly and courteous especially Juan! Our favorites are the California Omelet, fish tacos, salmon salad, and the pecan crusted halibut. The chocolate covered strawberries are to die for! Used to enjoy Sunday brunch with music but they discontinued it. They usually have piano music on Friday & Saturday nights with Al Reese, a very talented artist. WOW we love the Mar Monte & Bistro 1111 and especially their most excellent hotel staff member Holly Fukui.

On Breakfast...

My girlfriend and I just moved down the street from the Hotel Mar Monte (where Bistro 1111 is located). We wandered over to see if they served breakfast one morning, and were promptly seated at on of the best seats in the house, facing the ocean. Our waiter turned out to be really good, helpful and attentive, but not obnoxious. I got the breakfast buffet, which is a steal at $12. My girlfriend got the huevos rancheros, which was HUGE and delicious. Everything I had at the breakfast buffet bar quite good.
Overall, just a pleasant surprise due to some neighborhood wandering. We now plan to eat here weekly. Oh, and the $5 mimosas are great.

A Great Thanksgiving

We made reservations here for Thanksgiving dinner...the place was packed! Our group of 14 loved everything about the night. They seated us in a large room next to the restaurant near the fireplace. The decor was warm and relaxing, and the food was fabulous with all American fare, turkey, ham, prime rib. Wish they had prime rib more often. Our server was very sweet, and efficient. This is our 4th year, and we will be back. We stay at the Hotel Mar Monte, and love it!
