Great place, 11/14/2009

My friends and I eat at Noodle City frequently. The food is good and inexpensive, and the employees are great. The owner used to have a restaurant on upper State that we visited a lot and were disappointed to see go. We were so happy to stumble upon Noodle City a couple years ago.

Delish!, 11/11/2009

We have discovered a wonderful gem with NC! Delicious and authentic pho is hard to find in this town, and we're glad that NC can closely match (if not match) that of the pho restaurants in the bay area. Very pleased with the flavors, and expect us to be back often! Tried the chow pan too--yum!!

I like the best about this place is food. It's so delicious. I really taste Vietnamese food. For me, Noodle City restaurant is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Santa Barbara. It's also sellling cheap food.

My favorite place., 10/22/2009
Reviewer: louis from Santa Barbara, CA
I almost have lunch everyday here. I usually have #6 (the combination pho) and #53 (chowpan). I used to try so many Vietnamese foods in LA, and I think this restaurant is the most authentic Vietnamese food in town. Even though they only have two servers at lunch time, we didn't wait too long for our foods. However, it's not easy to find a parking lot here.

Good food in town, 5/22/2009

Their foods are very delicious, such as" Pho#6,7,Bun#41 and rice noodloe soup with seafood. But I suggest when you order some foods that have different size(regular or larger, you need tell the waiter or waitress which size you want,In lunch time, they always busy, if you do not say, they do not have time to ask you.It is easy to make the wrong size. Not only you but also them get some trouble.

Used to be my favorite place for Pho, but no longer!!, 5/21/2009
Reviewer: Erin from Santa Barbara, CA
What started out as a much-anticipated journey to my regular haunt for Pho ended up on a sour note that will stop me in my tracks from ever coming here again. I entered the restaurant without so much as a greeting (no biggie). However, after seating myself in a nearly empty restaurant (only two tables were occupied), I was asked to sit in the middle of the restaurant. If the place was jam-packed, I would have happily and easily obliged. I explained that I was more comfortable where I was, and that's when the problem started. Please, please, please do not assume that because I'm caucasian that I don't understand what you are saying about me!! It's bad customer service, not to mention that it was never explained to me WHY they wanted me to sit in the middle of the room. I'm assuming they might have been anticipating a crowd--which never materialized--and when I left there were still five open tables. Yes, this place may have the best pho in town, but the customer services leaves a bad taste in my mouth that does not wash away easily, no matter how good the food is.

Yen can cook!, 5/15/2009
Reviewer: Eric from Santa Barbara, CA
This place is awesome - They should actually raise their prices, they are a great value. I've been eating here nearly since they opened and before that, at Golden China (I think that was the name?) on State St that they used to run. (it's brummi's now) The food is excellent and I've never had a problem getting first class service. If you don't give this place a try then Pho Q!

Good Food, but Bad Service, 5/12/2009
Reviewer: Chris Jones from Santa Barbara, CA
The pho is really delicioius for the price, since it is relatively cheaper than most pho restaurants in Santa Barbara. The service and the old lady is rather shady. Be clear on what size (regular or large) you get for the pho, because if the old lady "doesn't hear you," you will automatically get a size large. A friend and I clearly said "regular" but we were charged for the price of a large. The old lady most likely did it purposely because it happened many times to us. It's not about the money. You don't do those kind of things. Again, food is great, but service is poor.

ƒriggin good!
Reviewer: Sarah from Santa Barbara, CA
I love this place. Pho is good, bun is good, and the fried shrimp appetizer is good. Everything is good! Iced coffee is excellent as well. Good broth, good beef. Good times!

Very Good Food and Service
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Wow, great stuff! Hostess is nice, a little language problems but you can figure out her intent. Spring Rolls recommended. I will have to try more stuff on the menu(the "numbers"). Negatives are right on noisy Old Town Hollister and the parking associated with that(there is parking in the back also though).

The BEST pho in town!!!
Reviewer: Erin from Santa Barbara, CA
If you are looking for the most authentic pho in town, look no longer. Noodle City is the place! Saigon In and Out? Been there (many times). Saigon Noodle House? Check that box, too. New China? GREAT Korean food, but their pho does not compare to Noodle City. The only thing I wish, hope and dream is that someday Noodle City puts French bread sandwiches (Banh Mi) on their menu. Why is it that NO Vietnamese restaurant in SB makes French bread sandwiches?!?!?! I have to go all the way to LA for them. Oh well, maybe some day... In the meantime, Noodle City is THE place for delicious Vietnamese food.

Best Vietnamese in town!
Reviewer: Josh from Santa Barbara, CA
I am a regular and the food is delicious. I either get the #42, the Bun Bo Hue or the #24 with a fried egg. Noodle City is the best Vietnamese restaurant in town and the cheapest! Service is done by college students, the owner's son is my favorite. He has so much spunk and makes you feel at home!

Can't stop going there!
Reviewer: The Cobbler from Goleta
NO- I'm not familiar with Vietnamese food and really don't care to be. Put simply- this food rocks! You will never find any place in SB with such freshness and flavor as this joint. If you're looking for well priced, delicious food in a laid back atmosphere, this is your place. I recommend #21 or #62. They are sure to fill you up but not make you feel like a fatty.

The only place in SB that serve authentic Vietnamese food
Reviewer: Lam from Goleta
I grew up eating Vietnamese food and most Vietnamese restaurants in SB have disappointed me. I used to go to SG in and out on Milpas all the time but since Noodle city opened, I only go here, because the food is so much more delicious yet cheaper. Their "bun bo hue" is definitely incomparable. Pho is hot, fresh and come with the right veggies. Their broken rice is very good too, true style "com tam" (different from sticky rice or long grain rice)that is hard to find in a city like SB. My bf is now addicted to the "banh hoi" (number 63) he claims it to be the healthiest dinner for him. The service is ok, nothing special but also nothing to be complained about. Overall, I'd definitely recommend anybody to go there for Vietnamese food!

Cold vermicelli noodles with chicken best in town!
Reviewer: Lisa Hill from Santa Barbara
The food is delicious and they are VERY nice! Lovely place and right next store to an Asian grocery. I shopped while waiting for take-out!

Best Vietnamese
Reviewer: Nicole from SB, CA
This is the best Vietnamese in town, with Saigon on Milpas in second. They have a wonderful variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes, as well as Chinese dishes and many vegetarian options. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants in LA and this one compares very well. The broken rice plates and rice vermicelli patties can't be found anywhere else in town (nor can the Pho with tripe if you're a die-hard). The coconut drink is the best here, and very fresh. The service is fast and friendly. My boyfriend and I regularly drive from SB to Goleta just for the food.

Best food in Santa Barbara
Reviewer: Christina from Santa Barbara
Me and my husband go here all the time. I am the most picky eater you will find out there but the food at this place is perfect. The food is made to order and is extremely fresh which makes for a deliscious experience. The service is fast and not fake. The owner is very vivacious and she pays close attention to all your requests. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Best Vietnamese food of my life
Reviewer: Anne Cua from Goleta, CA
I love Vietnamese food and after eating at Saigon Noodle House for years, a Vietnamese friend recommended Noodle City and i figured Id check it out. It was AMAZING. Huge variety of menu options and the food came out quick, hot, fresh, and delicious. Our server was great and the place had a really relaxed and genuine feel. Soo good and i cant wait to go back!

Bleh. Nothing special.
Reviewer: Zack from Santa Barbara, CA
I've eaten at other vietnamese restaurants around town, and this was nothing special. The pho was okay, although the broth tastes like beef broth to me. The service was a teenage boy, and he could be a bit more friendly or at least smile.

BEST VIETNAMESE FOOD IN SANTA BARBARA
Reviewer: Minty from Goleta, CA
I am very picky when it comes to my pho because i am used to traditional food. This pho is the best I've had in santa barbara. the other dishes are also great and everything is very authentic.

Mmmm... tasted better, but its still good
Reviewer: Wendy from Garden Grove, Ca
I don't mean to be picky since I am from Garden Grove where vietnamese food is to the finest, but the pho was a bit bland and the fried tofu is boring. The sweet and sour sauce tastes familiar.

I Love It!
Reviewer: Anthony from Oxnard
First off the food is wonderful. Friendly service. Food comes out quick, made to order. The place is small but very cozy. Price is great and portion are huge. Highly recommended.

Quick and tasty
Reviewer: Renee from Isla Vista
My boyfriend and I tried this place a few months ago when we were starving and in a hurry. The food and service were great. The portions are huge and the prices are low. We go there regularly and are never disappointed. It is a very laid back place and the owner is always there and very friendly.

Best Pho in town!
Reviewer: Kyle from Santa Barbara, CA
Santa Barbara finally has a real Pho place! I've already been here 10+ times and they haven't let me down. What makes good Pho? The broth! The Pho place on Milpas has changed it's broth numerous times and the current variant is not good (unless you like North Vietnamese Pho = no flavor). Don't even bother trying the one near K-Mart, it's more like water than broth! The owner is friendly and attentive, however, her son definitely needs to learn some manners/customer service (dazing off into space, smacking gum while taking orders??)

Good Food, Good Place
Reviewer: Dr. Hosenfosen from Goleta, CA
The food was good and the prices were just right. The Pho comes in two sizes: Regular (large) and Large (extra large!) and is priced between $6-7. The menu is large and has a lot of variety between Pho, rice dishes, noodles, etc. The service was fast, the people polite, and the food was good. I highly recommend stopping by.

quick, friendly, good, reasonable
Reviewer: jimstoic from Santa Barbara, CA
It's a good alternative to fast food, and the spicy soup hits the spot--and clears my sinuses!--during cold weather. The service is quick and friendly. The food is tasty. And the prices are reasonable.

Best Vietnamese food in town! Must Try!
Reviewer: Kate from Santa Barbara, CA
The food was so good especially the noodle soup! The food tasted a lot like Vietnamese food unlike other Vietnamese restaurants in town

Great "Real" Fast Food
Reviewer: barb from Santa Barbara
Great fresh, fast food!! Great soups for that winter cold!! Try the #6 and the #46! Super fast service if you eat in or take it out. You can also take your food next door to the Mercury bar for even better atmosphere and a great glass of wine or beer. Try them out!!

Very Good! Must Try.
Reviewer: Elizabeth from SB
Very good! Delicious Vietnamese food. Service was speedy & nice.

Good, but I'm no Pho expert
Reviewer: Christine from Santa Barbara, CA
Just went today for lunch with a co-worker. We each had chicken rice noodle soup and tea. The place was clean, almost full at 12:30 on a rainy day, service was prompt. I'm no Pho expert so I can't report on authenticity or anything like that, but the soup I had was really good. Everything tasted extremely fresh. I will definitely be going back.
